Gothic Remake: Free Demo and System Requirements Available 122 comments

The classic gothic role-playing game will soon receive a remake. Players can now get a first impression for themselves, as recently the free demo of the Gothic 1 remake was made available for download for PC from GOG and Steam.
The demo is called “Nyras Prologue” and was already playable for some visitors to Gamescom 2024. Now the demo has been released on GOG and on Steam for everyone.
A prologue that will not be in the game
This is not part of the finished game, but an exclusive prologue for the Gothic remake. As part of a short quest, players can explore the minents prepared in the Unreal 5 engine with the character Nyras, while in the finished game the “nameless hero” will be present again.
The demo should provide a “first look at the modernized combat system,” according to the description from publisher THQ Nordic, which incorporated German Originals developer studio Piranha Bytes in 2019. Piranha Bytes was shut down last year, but development of the Gothic remake is in the hands of Spanish studio Alkimia Interactive anyway.
System Requirements for Gothic Remake Demo
With the start of the demo, the system requirements for them were also released. In processors, the requirements with older core 4 and 6 are relatively moderate. At least 16 GB must be available on RAM, 32 GB is recommended. Graphics cards with at least 8 GB of VRAM such as a Radeon RX 6700 XT or GeForce RTX 2070 should be a good place to start. Significantly stronger models of the Radeon RX 6800 or GeForce RTX 3070 Ti or RTX 4070 are recommended.
Only 10 GB is mentioned as storage space. The demo’s reach is also low.
