Govee already presented the Govee AI Sync Box Kit 2 at CES 2024 – an HDMI sync box with HDMI 2.1 for 8K/60 and 4K/144 in the style of the Philips Hue Play HDMI Sync Box. But it is only now available in German stores. There is a set for 27-34 inch monitors and one for 55-65 inch TVs.

Govee AI Sync Box (Kit) 2 available today

The Govee AI Sync Box Kit 2 for 27-34 inch monitors has the model number H6603 and costs 279.99 euros*. The Govee AI Sync Box 2 with backlight for 55-65 inch TVs, on the other hand, is listed as H6604 and is available for 239.99 euros*. Both variants can also be ordered directly from Govee. For comparison: the Philips Hue Play HDMI Sync Box 8K costs 349.99 euros*.

The set includes two LED light bars and two 56 cm LED strips and two 28 cm long LED strips. The TV set, however, does not contain light bars, but relies exclusively on LED strips. In this case, two LED strips with a length of 120 cm and two LED strips with a length of 60 cm are included. Due to the two light bars, the monitor kit is more expensive than the TV kit.

HDMI 2.1 for 8K/60 and 4K/144

The Govee Sync Box 2 is an HDMI sync box with LED strip, LED bars and material. Thanks to HDMI 2.1, the HDMI sync box, which passes an HDMI signal and analyzes its colors in order to reproduce them on the connected LED lights, also supports 4K at 144 Hz and 8K at 60 Hz in the new version . Compared to the CES 2024 announcement, Govee has made some improvements here, since 4K at 120 Hz and 8K were added in January with the promised 30 Hz. In the meantime, however, there was competition at IFA 2024 with the Philips Hue Play HDMI Sync Box 8K, which now also supports HDMI 2.1 and thus 4K/120 and 8K/60.

Dolby Vision, HDR10 and eARC not affected

The Govee Sync Box Kit 2 also supports features like VRR and ALLM as well as FreeSync and G-Sync. Up to four playback devices can be connected directly to the box via HDMI, the signal from which can then be switched and processed. Features such as HDR10, Dolby Vision, CEC and eARC are not affected.

There are also innovations compared to the first generation of Govee’s Sync Box in the included light strip, which is now intended to display colors more accurately. It has 75 RGBICW LEDs per meter, so each also contains a white LED so that white does not have to be mixed with other colors.

The HDMI sync box can be integrated into the via Matter and, in addition to the Govee Home app, also supports Alexa and Assistant for voice control. However, Matter support will only come with a software update.
