“Great Radeon Edition”: AMD is expected to prepare an RX 9070 GRE 109 before the RX 9060 (XT)
According to the Radeon RX 9070 and RX 9070 XT (review), AMD could still be releasing a GRE variant stripped of NAVI 48. At least, that’s what the Chinese portal reports. The previously unannounced RDNA-4 graphics card could even hit the market before the officially expected Radeon RX 9060 (XT).
Low memory interface and less suspected
Ithome refers to a Chinese dealer who compares the RX 9070 (XT) to the Radeon RX 9000 graphics card, and another source who allegedly confirmed the existence of the smaller graphics card based on the NAVI 48 chip. The dealer also mentions that the Radeon RX 9060 (XT) still has to wait, so it will be a different model. Word -of -Le -Tar Information on the specific expansion of the GPU has not yet been provided. Ithome suspects a chip that is further cropped compared to the RX 9070, whose memory interface is reduced to 192 bits, through which only 12 GB of video memory can be connected. As is known, the available graphics cards of the RX-9070 series have 16 GB on a 256-bit memory interface. It is obvious that a potential RX 9070 GRE will also have fewer execution units than the RX 9070. However, there are no concrete figures for this.

No more Golden Rabbit
Since the Year of the Rabbit in the Chinese calendar with its twelve zodiac signs is already history, the GRE suffix can no longer stand for “Golden Rabbit Edition.” AMD is taking this into account by now referring to the name as “Great Radeon Edition,” as with the China-exclusive Radeon RX 7650 GRE.
A big question mark still hangs over whether a potential RX 9070 GRE would even be available in Europe. The first Radeon GRE graphics card, the Radeon RX 7900 GRE, was originally intended for the Chinese market, but also found its way to the European market via system integrators and was eventually sold to end customers as well.
