Obsidian lets players in AVOWED Save A Fantasy Country from a mysterious plague. The makers of outer worlds and spinoffs: New Vegas once again deliver a good role-playing game that comes with some interesting ideas. Above all, the game can tell well, say the press and players.
Avowed is set in the same world as the CRPG Pillars of Eternity, but in another, not yet traveled. The 20-30 hour adventure simplifies the classic leveling, which only unlocks talent, and instead focuses on the story, the companion and a combat system in which each age ego can be equipped separately. For this, swords, signs, firearms and magic are available in free combination.

On Metacritic, the role-playing game currently reaches an average of 80 out of 100 possible points in the press evaluation. User ratings are not yet available there, but 80% of all reviews are currently positive on Steam. The sixth axis places the most recent work of Obsidian in a row with the oblivion of the classics and Morrowind, the predecessors Skyrim. An exciting setting, a great narrative and demanding combat, the page, the page, takes a great mix.
The other testers are a little more nuanced. Gamesradar+ highlights companions. They are always present with commentary, but are not needed in combat. In addition, the site does not have some comfort functions and cinematics, but Obsidian convinces with “outstanding storytelling”. Others reach similar conclusions. Overall, the game is “one of the most pleasant surprises of the year”, writes Eurogamer. Not a triple-A game, but one that overcomes its limitations and implements a clear vision.
These drawbacks are stronger in the case of more critical reviews, such as those from Game Rant and Game Pro. An excellent combat system is combined with a flat skill system, a large world with repeated exploration. In many areas both sides write, there is no fine grinding, which is more of a good foundation than an exceptional game. Only one thing is praised again and again: dialogues, story and humor.
System requirements want average
AVOYED can be played on PC, Xbox Series S | X and via game play. Medium hardware is required to play. There must be at least six computing cores, plus 16 gigabytes of RAM and an old mid-range graphics card. It is much more recommended, but for 2025 there is no material that goes beyond the current ranges.
