Hidden cables in the PC: ASRock presents the first “back mount design” motherboards at CES 15 comments
For years, Asus, Gigabyte and MSI have been offering motherboards with connectors on the back to make it easier to lay cables invisibly in suitable cases. The manufacturer ASRock was until now absent from this market. This should change at CES 2025.
First for ASRock “Back Mount Design” (BMD)
At next week’s show, ASRock will not only present new, cheaper boards with AM5 socket (B850/B840) and LGA 1851 socket (B860), but will also exhibit motherboards from the “Back Mount Design” (BMD) series for the first time, their connectors are on the back.
ASRock will present the new motherboards aimed at the consumer and budget segments, based on the upcoming Intel® and AMD chipset. New motherboards include the Phantom Gaming series, the very popular Steel Legend which comes in a white PCB design, and the feature-packed but budget-friendly Pro RS and Pro-A series. ASRock will also present its first BMD (back mount design) motherboard at CES 2025.
Asus, Gigabyte and MSI have been around longer
Asus markets the cards with rear connectors as a back-to-the-future series. There are also specially adapted wireless graphics cards. The builder founded a “BTF alliance” for the BTF program, which brings together many housing manufacturers. However, they only follow the standard set by Asus. MSI calls the motherboard’s rear connectors “Project Zero.” At Gigabyte, the brand is “Project Stealth”.
