Huawei Mate X6: foldable and thin with bigger screens and new cameras 37 comments

With the Mate X6, Huawei also presented a new foldable in addition to the new Mate 70 series. Unlike the Huawei Mate single hinge.
One of the thinnest foldables
When unfolded, the Mate X6 is just 4.6mm thick. While that’s thicker than two of the Mate XT’s three parts, which are just 3.6mm thick, it’s thinner than the third part of the Mate It is therefore one of the thinnest foldables on the market. The smartphone weighs 239 grams and measures 156.6 × 73.78/144.04 × 9.85/4.6 mm. The foldable smartphone also offers some improvements over its predecessor, including larger screens and an updated camera system – and like the Mate 70 Pro, it’s also optionally available with Huawei’s new operating system, HarmonyOS Next 5.0, which completely dispenses with Android as a base.
Two bright OLED displays
The Huawei Mate X6 is equipped with two LTPO displays. The internal foldable LTPO OLED display measures 7.93 inches, offers a resolution of 2,440 × 2,240 pixels, a variable refresh rate between 1 and 120 Hz, and a maximum brightness of 1,800 nits. When unfolded, it is almost square.

The exterior OLED screen, meanwhile, measures 6.45 inches, offers Full HD resolution as well as a variable refresh rate from 1 to 120 Hz, but is bright up to a maximum of 2,500 cd/m². Both displays come with the second generation Kulun glass which serves as protection.
The Mate X5’s corresponding screens are 7.85 and 6.4 inches.
Quad-camera system with spectral sensor
The Mate X6 is equipped with a quad-camera system, with three lenses already familiar from other Huawei smartphones. The main camera uses a 50-megapixel sensor with a variable aperture from f/1.4 to f/4.0, like the one on the Pura 70 Pro+. The 48-megapixel telephoto lens with 4x optical zoom is familiar from the Mate 60 Pro, while the 40-megapixel ultra-wide-angle lens is familiar from the Pura 70 Ultra ( review ). The fourth sensor is a spectral sensor intended to improve color representation and is also used in the Mate 70.
There are small differences in the battery depending on the model. In the model with 12 GB of RAM it offers a capacity of 5,110 mAh, while in the 16 GB model it is 5,200 mAh. You can charge up to 66 watts via cable and up to 50 watts wirelessly. Wireless reverse charging to charge other devices via the smartphone is supported at up to 7.5 watts.
Improved antennas will provide a stronger connection and satellite communications will be supported via China’s Beidou and Tiantong satellite systems. The Mate X6 is IPX8 certified against water and, according to Huawei, can withstand a depth of 2 meters for at least 30 minutes.

Kirin 9020
Huawei has not provided any information on the processor used in the Mate you are not at the level of current high-end SoCs like the MediaTek Dimensity 9400 in the Oppo Find X8 Pro (test) or the Snapdragon 8 Elite in the ROG Phone 9 (test) lands.
The Kirin 9020 is said to be around 40% faster than the Kirin 9010 previously used by Huawei.

Prices and availability
The Huawei Mate X6 is available in five color variants. Finished in gray and white glass and leather look in black, red and blue.
The prices of the Huawei Mate 2,100
The device is now available in China. Plans to market the smartphone worldwide have not yet been communicated by the manufacturer, but the announcement of a global product launch at Huawei usually takes place only a few weeks after the announcement in China. Huawei could announce something for the rest of the world in December.
