With the Pura X, Huawei has introduced a new foldable smartphone that aims to set new standards in this area with a display ratio of 16:10. The smartphone can be designed not only vertically like the Galaxy Flip, but also laterally, but more space in a tablet-like style.

The new aspect ratio is intended to be reflected in the larger, less black bezels, making the smartphone easier to use both horizontally and vertically. Harmony Intelligence for AI is also new.

Square external display with triple camera

The Huawei Pura X has a 3.5-inch OLED display with a resolution of 980 × 980 pixels on the outside, while the IE offers a square aspect ratio. The small display should be able to shine with up to 2,500 cd/m² of light, offers and a variable refresh rate between 1 and 120 Hz thanks to LTPO technology. A triple camera with a 50-megapixel sensor with f/1.6 aperture, a 3.5x zoom camera, and a 40-megapixel ultrawide angle sensor are installed above this display, thus maintaining the form factor. As with the Huawei Mate X6 (review), an additional fourth spectral sensor is also installed on the Pura X, which is intended to improve color rendering.

16:10 ratio in progress

The display inside measures 6.3 inches with 2,120 × 1,320 pixels, i.e., the already mentioned 16:10 ratio. LTPO is also used for this OLED panel, so the refresh rate from 1 to 120 Hz is variable. This larger display also supports HDR and is said to have a brightness of up to 2,500 cd/m².

Due to the wider aspect ratio, the inner display offers approximately 30 percent more screen space and numerous advantages compared to a 16:9 variant. Short videos are enlarged by 40 percent, and the display area for photos is increased by 60 percent, according to Huawei.

The Pura X’s battery has a capacity of 4,720 mAh and can be charged with up to 66 watts. Wireless charging via the back is also supported, with up to 40 watts.

The Pura X measures 91.7 × 74.3 × 15.1 mm. When folded, it measures 143.2 × 91.7 × 7.15 mm. The foldable smartphone weighs approximately 195 grams, depending on the version. The Pura X is waterproof to IPX8 and can be used for temporary use. Huawei X Temple.

Furthermore, the Pura X is the first smartphone to ship with Huawei’s own AI, Harmony Intelligence. Even Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang confirmed this week that Huawei’s AI capabilities are undeniable. Harmony Intelligence is based on Huawei’s Pangu model, which is powered by Deepseek.

Only with Harmony Intelligence – in China

In China, the Pura X is only coming to market with Harmony Intelligence, which operates there as Harmony Intelligence 5. Huawei doesn’t use Android as an operating system, which is why it’s only used in China on the company’s new smartphones and tablets. Huawei’s native apps are so extensive that all apps relevant to this market are developed as native apps for Harmony Intelligence. Huawei X temple.
