Intel Arc B580: A look at the GPU and PCB of the Battlemage graphics card

The Intel Arc B580 (details) has been official since Tuesday and can be photographed, but information on the disassembled state is only allowed once the testing embargo is lifted. MyDrivers either has access to a limited edition Intel (reference design) without NDA, or has overlooked the appearance and presents photos of the GPU and PCB.

The information obtained is not completely new, as Intel itself had already shown an exploded CAD drawing of the graphics card. But the photos show more details.

A high-resolution look under the radiator

After disassembling the cooling system, the very short PCB is visible even when assembled. Even the standard Mini-ITX size of 170 millimeters is not reached. The compact design allows the Limited Edition’s cooling system to blow airflow from the rear fan through the radiator unhindered compared to its predecessors.

In addition to the decentralized GPU present on the package, the PCB contains six 2 GB GDDR6 components from Samsung, specified at 20 Gbps. The graphics card clocks graphics memory at 19 Gbps ex factory.

Three DisplayPort 2.1, one with UHBR 13.5

TechPowerUP! After asking Intel, we discovered more details: the three DisplayPort 2.1 ports are not completely identical. Only the framed port positioned in the middle DisplayPort Ultra-High Bit Rate 13.5 (54 Gbps), the other two offer UHBR 10 (40 Gbps).

Since UHBR 10 is already quite fast uncompressed for UHD at 144 Hertz, this is currently generally of a theoretical nature, but in the end it still remains a difference.

Only the RX 7000 currently still offers UHBR 13.5 on DisplayPort 2.1 ports, while the Nvidia GeForce RTX 4000 still remains at DisplayPort 1.4. Thanks to Display Stream Compression (DSC), UHD at 240 Hertz is also possible here, but the uncompressed bandwidth is not sufficient.
