The C1 is Apple’s first specially developed mobile phone modem and at the same time the first step for Appleto break away from Qualcomm and to better adapt this component to your own needs. In the long term, the modem and processor must be included Apple Bloomberg reports that a single-chip solution is being developed together.
No earlier than 2028, the two-component C-series modem and A-series processor are only expected to develop together to form a chip. Accordingly, it should not be expected before the “iPhone 20”. Apple’s long-term modern roadmap initially envisages the C2 for next year, which should also move into the Apple-Marphones above the iPhone 16E. With the following C3, Qualcomm’s performance must be surpassed for the first time.
A single-chip solution is in other standards
The background to this development is lower costs and once again increased energy efficiency. According to the announcement last week, the C1 is expected to be the most energy-efficient modem that Apple has ever installed in an iPhone. A modem that is integrated directly into the SOC for vendors in the Android segment with a few exceptions, such as MediaTek, Qualcomm and Samsung, is based on this construction. For the moment, however, the new one must Apple Prove C1 in iPhone 16E.
MacBook Air ships with M4 in March
During the focus of Apple’s PR and marketing strategy, currently entirely on the iPhone 16E and the expanded availability of Apple Intelligence is now also in Germany, among other things, the pendulum with the MacBook Air will swing again next month towards another product category. Then the 13 and 15 inch model should be upgraded to the received Apple M4, which is currently used in the iPad Pro (test), IMAC, Mac Mini (test) and MacBook Pro (test).
According to Bloomberg, that of the Apple Stores has reduced stocks of MacBook Air models with M3. In the online trade, however, both versions can still be found in many providers. The current 13-inch model costs 1,080 euros, the 15-inch model costs 1,349 euros.
