Keychron Lemokey P1 Pro: Metal keyboard undercuts the competition 75 comments

The Keychron Lemokey P1 Pro is a 75% layout keyboard with a complex structure and an aluminum housing. The price is relatively low compared to luxury keyboards like the Asus Azoth Extreme (test) or the GMMK 3 Pro.
The P1 Pro uses a “normal” 75% layout, in which the arrow and the four function keys are pushed to the right of the keyboard, but are slightly separated. There is also space for a rotary control. Like the buttons, it can be reprogrammed via QMK thanks to open source firmware.
Gateron button for Keychron
The buttons are in hot-swappable sockets and are manufactured by Gateron for Keychron. A two-stage spring is intended to reduce the variation between the individual buttons on the red and yellow models. The red and brown buttons roughly correspond to the MX models; Keychron promises a very clear pressure point for the banana switches, similar to the Holy Panda switches.

For stabilization, Keychron uses a polycarbonate plate, which offers slightly better cushioning than the aluminum normally used. There are several layers of different foams and a silicone mat underneath to reduce the actual and subjective volume of the keyboard.
The regular P1 transfers data via a USB-C cable. The Pro model also uses Bluetooth 5.1 and 2.4 GHz radio, and a 4,000 mAh battery provides power. This should allow a maximum battery life of 200 hours with Bluetooth transmission when the lighting is turned off. If the keys are illuminated at the lowest brightness level, the operating time is reduced by half.
Although the keycaps are made of PBT plastic and made using the double-shot process, they are not translucent. The LEDs therefore only illuminate the keyboard. The OSA profile also differs from regular caps, it is angled towards the middle on all four sides.
Cheap in comparison
The Lemokey P1 Pro currently costs around 200 euros in stores. The model is sold directly from the manufacturer at a price of 129 euros, but is currently only available with brown buttons. In terms of price, both significantly undercut the competition: The Keychron is on the same level as a Corsair K65 Plus (test) with a plastic body, mediocre buttons and proprietary software.
