Kingdom Come: Deliverance’s release in 2018 was bumpy at first. The role-playing game had to deal with technical issues and bugs, but the game was able to inspire in the long run. Almost the day 7 years later, Kingdom Come: Deliverance II was released. And the condition and is it good?
What does it like and what not?
Press copies of the game have been circulating for a few days, so countless reviews could be read shortly before the game’s release. There is also a tech test planned based on computers these days, if nothing goes in between.
Lots of praise for the presentation and atmosphere
Almost always the large, pretty and particularly varied world is praised, which consists of villages, courtyards, castles, forests and a city. The world is described as authentic, detail-loving and unique. The story full of betrayal and love, suffering and friendship and politics is praised. Decisions made have short and long term effects on action. The depiction of the cruel and brutal Middle Ages is always praised, even if it sometimes caused an oppressive feeling.

High complexity and slow battles
The role-playing system is quite complex. There are many slots of abilities, skills and experience points that are achieved by doing the activities. If you ride or sneak a lot, you can improve these skills rather than someone who only walks. The combat system includes many weapons in both close and ranged combination, including flourishes and guns with slow reload animations. Fighting itself requires good equipment and a lot of practice, but is mainly perceived as complicated, cumbersome and slow.
NPCs don’t find it so funny when robbed and like to pull the sword out directly. Even unnoticed, sometimes theft is displayed and the player must pay the punishment in one way or another.
What is being criticized?
It is particularly criticized that certain quests depend on chance, whether the player can master them because the NPCs are more or less useful. Additionally, there are more or less open time limits in missions that can lead to too much frustration in combination with the stealth compulsion and unfavorable storage points, especially if the right skills have not been selected.
The claim to realism calls for some homage to repetitive but rather boring activities such as eating, drinking, washing, clothing, and equipment care. At first, the player is faced with a typical role-playing problem, which other games like The-Witcher series had to solve. The hero is played from the first part, but skills and equipment are reset to the beginning. Naked, without reputation and skills, it starts here too.
Technically cleaner than part of a
The testers agree from all parts that the Kingdom has come: Deliverance 2 has been technically rounded off considerably on the market than the first part. Placement bugs or other serious issues that can only be fixed by reloading can no longer be found. The game is stable and smooth and looks good, the fifth generation CryenEngine seems to do a whole job.
A very good role-playing game
Overall, Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 is a very good, very complex role-playing game with countless items and skills, which fans of the first part should especially like. Most posts attract very high ratings, although the game is not perfect and some testers complain about the heavy combat system, some of which complain about quests dropping or individual graphical errors.
Overall, the big world is praised because of its variety and optics, and NPCs are highlighted who are not lifeless dolls, but rather carry on a daily routine and contribute so much to the atmosphere. So far, the role-playing game has also been doing well among players, and shortly after release, more than 90% of reviews are positive in the Steam store.
Kingdom Come: Deliverance II was released on February 4, 2025 for PC in the Steam store and Epic Games Store as well as for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series S | X. For all PC gamers, an overview of the extensive system requirements might be worth it before purchasing.
