LG Gram 15: Lightweight Notebook Relying on AMD Ryzen AI 2 comments for the first time

The LG Gram series has been around since 2022, but so far has exclusively used Intel processors. This will change soon, as LG now plans to make the first model with a Ryzen AI CPU available in Korea. The “Gram 15” is expected to feature AI features.

The technical specifications are not yet known in detail. However, the press release reveals that a Ryzen Ai 7 350 will be used. According to the model name, a 15.6-inch display will also be installed, as well as a 72-megawatt battery. In addition, 16 GB of RAM can be expected, as no current model in the Gram series offers less. The Gram 15 weighs almost 1.3 kg.
Special attention is paid to the weight, which is only 1,290 grams. In comparison, the notebook is lightweight, and LG is therefore targeting office workers, mobile workers, students, and those who rely on AI features.

AI Services
Thanks to the modern Ryzen AI processor, high AI performance is announced. Thanks to the NPU, the notebook carries the Microsoft Copilot Seal + PC.
Another focus of the announcement is the AI services, which can be used free of charge for one year after purchasing the notebook before becoming a chargeable service.
Of particular note is the GPT-4O-based “Gram Chat Cloud,” which only works on LG Gram series models. However, there are limitations: web searches and the codebuilder feature are not available, but can be licensed later. Aside from that, the restrictions GPT-4O is subject to still apply. The training data is from 2023, and the token limit is 128,000.
A token can be a word, part of a word, or even a punctuation mark. This limit is important because it determines how much information the model can process at once. The Gram Chat Cloud must be purchased with the Chatgpt Plus subscription, which costs $20 per month. The GRAM Chat Cloud not only offers features such as general AI support, but can also be integrated into Outlook, Google Calendar, Google Mail, and Google Drive if necessary, to provide the AI assistant with as much data as possible without having to access individual services.
At CES 2025 in January, LG also talked about “Gram Chat on Device,” meaning the ability to use the AI assistant in a limited form even without an internet connection. This isn’t explicitly mentioned in the Gram 15 announcement, as the Gram 15 bears the “Gram Ai” label, which can be assumed to be a proper integration.
Price and Availability
The LG Gram 15 with Ryzen CPU will be available starting April 18th, but initially only in Korea. LG hasn’t announced the price yet. The previous entry-level price for the 2025 models is currently €1,699, if you ignore the LG Gram Book 15, which only has an Intel Core i5-1334U and is in a completely different price range.
