Skydance New Media has moved its game Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra, which was announced about a year ago for 2025, to early 2026. The reason for this is the usual explanations such as “More polish” and “To make sure we give you the best possible experience.” Technically, the game is based on the Unreal Engine 5.4.
Black Panther and Captain America vs. Hydra
The trailer released during the announcement roughly described the story. As the name suggests, it takes place during World War II and the fight against Hydra. To do this, Captain America and the Black Panther must still reunite at the beginning to stop the fictional organization Hydra. In addition to the two well-known heroes of the Marvel Universe, a spy and an American soldier are also expected to be playable characters. Plaion, formerly Koch Media, appears to be the game’s publisher. They have been part of the Embraser group since 2018, which was renamed ThQ Nordic in 2019.
Skydance New Media
Skydance New Media is a game studio founded in late 2019. It is owned by Skydance Media, a company focused on film and television, as well as sports and gaming. Paramount Pictures has published titles such as Impossible: Dead Reckoning Part Over and Top Gun: Maverick under its label. So far, only two games are known to have been created under Skydance New Media’s umbrella: Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra and a yet-to-be-named Star Wars game with Lucasfilm Games as the publisher. On December 5, 2024, Skydance Interactive released the VR title Skydance’s Behemoth.
