May 13th Unveiling: The Thin Galaxy S25 Edge Relies on Gorilla Glass Ceramic 2 72 Comments
Samsung will unveil the particularly thin Galaxy S25 Edge as the fourth model in the series on May 13th under the motto “Beyond Slim” in South Korea and will use Gorilla Glass 2 for its screen protection. Samsung has also confirmed the use of a 200-megapixel camera, as in the Galaxy S25 Ultra (review).
Strictly speaking, there isn’t much new Samsung can say about the Galaxy S25 Edge on May 13th. The slim smartphone’s appearance has been known since the Galaxy S25 event at the end of January, and it was also seen again at the MWC mobile phone fair in early March. So far, you haven’t been allowed to touch it. On May 13, the Galaxy S25 Edge was scheduled to be unveiled in its final form, with all the details revealed after the previously planned April release. However, Samsung co-CEO Han Jong-hee died suddenly of heart failure at the end of March.
Gorilla Glass Ceramic 2 for Thin Smartphones
In addition to the particularly thin construction, which according to Winfuture is said to be only 5.85 mm, Samsung has officially confirmed the use of Gorilla Glass Ceramic 2 for the display. According to Corning, the glass should better withstand drops onto rough surfaces. According to Samsung, exceptionally thin yet robust glass was required for the Galaxy S25 Edge.
Samsung confirms 200 megapixels
In a previous post, Samsung also confirmed the use of a 200-megapixel camera in the Galaxy S25 Edge. This should be comparable to the main camera of the Galaxy S25 Ultra. Unlike all other models in the Galaxy S25 series, the Edge is equipped with only two instead of three cameras. Since Winfuture’s preliminary report, however, the second camera with a 12 MP, F/2.2, and Ultra-Wave Angle has no longer been a secret.
The smallest battery in the Galaxy S25 series
Other key features of the smartphone include the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite “for Galaxy”, 12 GB of RAM, 256 GB or 512 GB of storage, and a 3,900 mAh battery. The battery would therefore be 100 mAh, another 100 mAh smaller than the smallest battery in the series, with a 4,000 mAh in the Galaxy S25 (review). Price between S25+ and S25 Ultra
The smartphone is expected to be offered in Jet Black Titanium, Icy Blue Titanium, and Titanium colors, and is rumored to cost €1,249 with 256GB and €1,369 with 512GB. Its RRP would be between the S25+ and S25 Ultra, which retail for €805 and €945.
