The color white is nowhere near as common in PC components as the ubiquitous black. MSI has now given the first monitor in its own OLED series a white housing. The MPG 321URXW offers 4K UHD and 240 Hz on 31.5 inches with its QD OLED panel.
White monitors remain exotic
A look at the price comparison shows how rare monitors with a white housing still are. Of the 2,888 monitors currently listed, only 67, or the equivalent of 2%, have a white display bezel. In return, 95 percent, or 2,742 models, have a black frame.
White monitors are still rare, as the price comparison reveals
Since the narrow edge is not very visible and the back of the housing usually faces the wall anyway, the color of the bracket is more important. Here too, the MPG 321URXW is in white, which also applies to 172 (6%) other models, while 2,207 models (76%) have an all-black backing.
The characteristics of the white QD OLED monitor
Apart from the color, the monitor is not new, as the MPG 321URXW (W for White) is just a white version of the MPG 321URX with a black body.
The equipment remains the same. The new generation QD-OLED panel with improved subpixel arrangement offers 3,840 × 2,160 pixels on 31.5 inches and thus 140 ppi. This type of display is characterized by a fast response time of 0.03 ms (GtG) and a high contrast ratio of 1.5 million to 1. The brightness should reach 250 cd/m² over the entire surface and 450 cd on 10 percent of the screen. surface /m² and for 3 percent even 1,000 cd/m² possible. Certification according to DisplayHDR True Black 400 is available. The monitor has a DisplayPort 1.4, two HDMI 2.1 and a USB-C with 90 watts as video inputs. There are also two USB 2.0 for peripherals (including KVM) and a headphone output. The stand offers all common adjustment options, including height adjustment and swivel.
Overslept on the press release?
Today, December 10, 2024, the press release for the MPG 321URXW was published in the MSI Global Newsroom. There is talk of availability for Black Friday in November, but that is now a thing of the past.
For the United States, the recommended price is $1,099. There is no offer available in this country yet. The price should be based on the black model, available for around 1,300 euros.
