Presented with the NH-D15 G2 at this year’s Computex, Noctua is now also launching the new 140mm NF-A14x25 G2 fans on the market. The fan is offered in three variants. The recommended price is just under 40 euros.
Many new features
According to Noctua, the new generation of fans should offer a “significant increase in performance” and numerous improvements. The manufacturer cites here an optimized wheel, an improved hub, a wheel gap of just 0.7 mm and, in particular, the new etaPERF motor, which is said to have increased efficiency. Noctua dedicates its own presentation report to the new engine itself on its website. The new fans also offer a SupraTorque function, intended to counteract a drop in performance due to back pressure.
Noctua illustrates the performance gains over its predecessor NF-A14 in several diagrams. In a direct cooling comparison, the new fan was installed on an NH-U14 CPU cooler and performed 2.3°C lower than its predecessor. The ratio of flow (m³/h) to volume has also improved, so the new fan should operate between 7 and 10 dB(A) quieter with the same air flow. Noctua presents further comparisons in a blog post.
Three variants and two shapes with different speeds
As before, Noctua offers its 140mm fan in several versions, even if there is no 3-pin version. The conventional Noctua NF-A14x25 G2 has a maximum speed of 1,500 rpm. The factory-regulated LS-PWM version operates at a maximum speed of 800 rpm. There is also a special Sx2-PP set, consisting of two fans that operate slightly offset at speeds of +/- approx. 25 rounds. The slight speed change is considered particularly advantageous in push-pull operation and in situations where two or more fans operate next to each other, thereby minimizing periodic humming or other unwanted acoustic interaction phenomena .
The NF-A14x25 G2 PWM and NF-A14x25 G2 PWM Sx2-PP variants are also available in a round version with the suffix “r”. The round fan variants used in the flagship NH-D15 G2 cooler have been available since its market launch in early July. As usual, the manufacturer offers a six-year warranty. As is usually the case with Noctua, delivery includes a low-noise adapter, a PWM Y cable, a 30 cm PWM extension cable, four anti-vibration mounts, an anti-vibration sealing lip, four anti-vibration pads. vibration and conventional fan screws. . Like its predecessors, the MTTF has more than 150,000 operating hours.
The new 140 mm fans are expected to be available today, which means that Noctua is on track to meet its market launch forecast of September 2024. The recommended retail price for the NF-A14x25 G2(r) PWM and LS-PWM is around 40 euros. The Sx2-PP set, consisting of two fans, will go on sale for around 77 euros. Apart from the internal Amazon shop*, the new fans have so far hardly been listed in retail stores.
Noctua has not said a word about a black chromax.black variant when the new fans are launched on the market. For the presentation at Computex, reference was only made to the first quarter of 2025.
