New trailer: In Borderlands 4, the timekeeper reigns over Kairos 44 comments
Borderlands 4 is set to release next year for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. During the Game Awards, 2K and Gearbox Software revealed a new trailer and story details for the game. As a result, the Vault Hunters must make an emergency landing on the planet Kairos, over which the Time Watcher rules as a new main opponent.
The continuation of the shooter and RPG series was one of the surprises of Gamescom, when a first trailer for Borderlands 4 was released and the release was already announced for next year. During the Game Awards, 2K and Gearbox Software revealed more about the game via a trailer and blog post.
The Vault Hunters find themselves in a powder magazine
It was already known that the player would take on the role of a vault hunter. From the visual indications in the first trailer, we now know that the Vault Hunters must make an emergency landing on the planet Kairos and find themselves in a powder magazine just waiting to explode.
Years ago, when a collision between Pandora’s moon Elpis and the atmosphere of the previously hidden world of Kairos tore a hole in its protective barrier, the events gave rise to a horde known as of the Ripper, led by their terrible Queen Callis. This horde fights on Kairos with Time Watcher, Borderlands 4’s new main antagonist, and his army of synthetic soldiers known as the Order. “Borderlands Mayhem in its entirety” is the result of this explosive combination, the developers explain.

Dynamic battles and lots of loot
Borderlands 4 is also the most ambitious installment in the series to date. The promise is free combat and exploration, large-scale boss fights, “unforgettable new and old characters” and, above all, more loot than ever. According to 2K, Borderlands 4 offers the largest skill tree to date and seamless movement between different areas of the planet. New gameplay mechanics for traversing the game world aim to make loot collection and combat more dynamic, and players also gain access to a vehicle that can be summoned.
Borderlands 4 comes with Buy Splitscreen
On PC, Borderlands 4 is planned for Steam and Epic Games Store and can already be added to the wishlist in both stores. The game can also be booked on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. Borderlands 4 also features cooperative play for two players on local split-screen or up to four players online. 2K continues to only give the date of next year instead of a specific date. The gameplay debut is planned for early 2025.
