All Noctua CPU coolers suitable for the Intel LGA 1700 socket can also be used for the LGA1851 socket and therefore for the new Intel Core Ultra 200S “Arrow Lake-S” processors. Even older CPU coolers receive a free assembly upgrade kit, even CPU coolers built in 2005 are covered.
The Core Ultra 200S “Arrow Lake-S” is equipped with an LGA 1700 cooler
Although Intel is moving from the LGA1700 socket to the LGA1851 socket with the new CPU series named Arrow Lake-S and this involves many changes (details on Intel Core Ultra 200S), the CPU coolers do not require a new mounting system : This means all are from Noctua (and other companies), LGA1700 compatible CPU coolers also fit the new LGA1851 socket.
For coolers purchased before the LGA 1700 era (from 12th generation Intel Core, Alder Lake-S), there are again free upgrade kits – the same as when switching to LGA 1700.
Free on Noctua.at or paid in store
Free upgrade kits can be requested using a specially created order form on the Noctua website.
Interested parties must know the exact model of their CPU cooler and provide proof of purchase. If you’re not sure which model you have, you can attach a photo and get support from Noctua.
Proof of purchase for a motherboard with an LGA1700 or LGA1851 socket or matching CPU must also be provided. If the latter is missing, a photo with the CPU or motherboard as well as a piece of paper with the date and name can be submitted.
If you can’t or don’t want to wait the estimated wait time of up to 20 business days (Arrow Lake-S will be released in 14 days), you can get the appropriate kits (NM-i17xx-MP83 or NM-i17xx -MP78) for around 9 euros or 10 euros (chromax.black) available from resellers.
Before using your own cooler for a Core Ultra 9 285K, Ultra 7 265K, or Core Ultra 5 245K or requesting the free mount upgrade kit, Noctua recommends reviewing the socket compatibility overview. The following video shows the installation of both mounting kits.
Note from October 24, 2024: The new K processors are now available and Techconseil has tested the Intel Core Ultra 9 285K, Ultra 7 265K and Ultra 5 245K.
