Odyssey OLED G6 and G8: Samsung offers a 27-inch OLED with 4K and 240 Hz and WQHD with 500 Hz 25 comments

First MSI, then Asus and now also Samsung: With the Odyssey OLED G6 and the Odyssey OLED G8, Samsung also produces a 27-inch 4K OLED gaming monitor with a refresh rate of 240 Hz and an OLED monitor with WQHD resolution and a 500Hz refresh rate.

The basic technical specifications of the Odyssey OLED G8 – model G81SF – coincide with the new launches from Asus and MSI: it is a 27-inch 4K OLED gaming monitor with a resolution of 3840 × 2160 pixels, which means a pixel density of 165 ppi. results and offers a refresh rate of 240 Hz.
The Odyssey OLED G6 – model G60SF – is Samsung’s implementation of the 27-inch version with a WQHD resolution of 2,560 × 1,440 pixels and a refresh rate of 500 Hz.
Both models offer a response time of 0.03ms (GtG) and also support AMD FreeSync Premium Pro and are NVIDIA G-Sync compatible. They are also VESA DisplayHDR True Black 400 certified.
Samsung is not yet providing additional technical data, price or date in the announcement. At least when it comes to connections, it can be assumed that the Odyssey OLED G8 will also use DisplayPort 2.1a.
Samsung Odyssey 3D: 3D effect without glasses
Samsung is also introducing the 27-inch Odyssey 3D gaming monitor – model G90XF – at CES. Thanks to the lenticular lens mounted on the front of the panel and the front-facing stereo camera, the Odyssey 3D offers a customizable 3D experience without the need for separate 3D glasses. Samsung had already presented the technology at Gamescom 2024.

ViewFinity S8: 37 inches in 16:9
The ViewFinity S8 – model S80UD – is Samsung’s largest 16:9 4K monitor to date. Its 37-inch screen is approximately 34% larger than the previous model. The monitor should display plenty of information at a glance while making optimal use of desk space. The sRGB color space is covered by 99% of the panel. The monitor has “easy setup support” and offers a built-in KVM switch so that peripherals connected to it can be used by multiple devices. Connected laptops can be connected and charged via a 90W USB-C port.

Smart Monitor M9: display with AI
With the Smart Monitor M9 – model M90SF – Samsung also offers a monitor that should be able to use AI functions. As the first Samsung monitor to integrate AI into the device, the M9 features the AI Picture Optimizer, which analyzes input signals to determine the type of content displayed – e.g. games, videos or productivity apps – and automatically adjusts the display. settings to deliver an optimal viewing experience, Samsung says.
