OLED MONITORS: Rapid Sales Increase, Samsung Just Ahead of Asus

From expensive exotics to the new gaming standard, monitors with OLED panels have now flourished. This can also be seen in new market research, which confirms sales growth of 175%. Samsung continues to the way among monitor brands, but Asus is close behind.

According to a recent Trendforce survey, the spread of OLED monitors continues to grow rapidly. 507,000 units were reportedly sold in the first quarter of 2025, representing a 175% increase compared to the same period last year. A sales volume of 650,000 units is even forecast for the current second quarter of 2025. For 2025, market researchers predict sales of 2.58 million OLED monitors, which would be 81% more than in 2024. The share of total global sales, at 2%, remains very low. The era of dominant LCD monitors is far from over. Ultimately, they are also much cheaper to own.

Samsung leads just ahead of Asus.

For monitor suppliers, who don’t care about actual exhibitor manufacturers, Samsung Electronics remains the leading brand for OLED monitors. With Samsung Display’s panels, the rapid rise of the technology in this segment has truly begun. According to Trendforce, Samsung achieved a 22.4% market share in the first quarter of 2025. The 49-inch flagships are said to have been responsible for 40% of sales. In the second quarter, however, the 27″ UHD model could be the new bestseller.

At 21.6%, Asus is already within striking distance, climbing from fourth place to second place, directly behind Samsung. Given that Asus even outsold Samsung in February and March, a change at the top could soon take place, provided the trend continues.

With MSI, another veteran of the continental chart has come to the forefront of monitors and is already in third place with 14%. LG Electronics, with its OLED panels from LG Display, comes in only fourth with 13%. This is followed by Dell with an 11% share. But one of LG’s sought-after 27″ UHD models, which doesn’t yet exist, could once again boost Dell’s sales, Trendforce explains.

With the growth of competitors, Samsung’s market share continues to decline. For 2024, Trendforce still certified Samsung at 31%, and LG followed in second place with 19%.
