Only Game Pass Affected: Hotfix Removes DLSS and FSR from Oblivion Remastered

A small hotfix should resolve crossplay issues between PC and console by the weekend. If you get Oblivion Remastered through Game Pass or the Microsoft Store, you’ll have to do without upscaling options like DLSS and FSR, as the patch removes the menu options.

Steam Not Affected

As PCGamer reports, the issue only occurs for Game Pass or Microsoft Store users; other platforms like are not affected and have not received the hotfix for crossplay between PC and console. The power scaling disappears

According to initial reports, the single 2GB patch removes all adjustment options for menu scaling. This means that NVIDIA DLSS, AMD FSR, and Intel Xess and the respective frame generation are currently neither enabled nor disabled. Bethesda informed the community on Reddit that the patch visually removes the menu adjustment option, so scaling itself should still be possible if it was previously enabled.

The hotfix we pushed live today addressed some backend adjustments and nothing impacted the game, but we did see that it affected some players’ Microsoft Store UI settings for graphics settings. Specifically, related to scaling and anti-aliasing. All graphics settings adjusted prior to the Microsoft Store hotfix are still enabled and functioning normally. You will simply be temporarily unable to adjust these settings due to the issue with the settings UI. The team is taking a look and working on a resolution; we will share more information as soon as possible.

Scaling is disabled

But as PCGamer analyzed, there are many conflicting reports directly from players under the Community Director’s input. The hotfix therefore generally disabled scaling, whether it was enabled or not, as it resets graphics settings for all players. Some readers are therefore assuming that the patch may contain Xbox configurations on which no dedicated scaling settings are available.

I had all my graphics sorted, including DLSS, installed the update, and my category was reduced in half. DLSS has been permanently disabled.

You must understand that this is not true. The settings were completely reset during the update, and we have no way to enable it without console commands. Please roll back the update as soon as possible. This should be obvious; you pushed an Xbox version patch to PC.

Resolution scaling is locked to console-like (or perhaps dynamic RES scaling?) while you’re not allowed to change any scaling options. It seems the game wants to force you to run at 60 fps like a console.

There are currently no further comments from Bethesda, so the issue will likely only be acknowledged early next week.

Are you affected?

But to what extent is the PC community affected by the issue? Are you playing the new Oblivion during gameplay, and if so, do you also have more access to the scaling options, which are a key factor for good performance in the editorial team’s test?

Appropriately, today’s also addresses the Oblivion remaster. Among other things, the editorial team would like to know from the community which Elder Scrolls is your favorite.
