Shown as a prototype at Computex 2024, Phanteks is now showcasing the series-ready Evolv X2 at . The new case is meant to attract attention with three glass sides and aluminum accents. The panoramic view costs around 150 to 160 euros, depending on the color.

3-sided glass and aluminum panels

Visually, the Phanteks Evolv X2 has nothing in common with its direct predecessor, the Evolv X from 2018. The manufacturer is instead innovating with the Evolv X2. While a lot of cases now rely on two glass side panels – usually the front panel and the left side panel – the Evolv X2 surpasses that by adding another side. Even though the right side wall of the Evolv X2 only has a quarter of glass, this is intended to ensure a distinctive look.

Besides the rear, the case is ventilated via three 120mm fans located in the base and lid. Fresh air must therefore be drawn in from below and exhausted upwards. To guarantee an unrestricted supply of fresh air, the Evolv X2 rests on a base. The fans are located behind brushed aluminum panels. Along with the cover, both panels also have a built-in RGB light strip.

The case is also designed to be as tidy as possible, as even the screw connections of the expansion slots are hidden behind a cover. The case also recesses for mounting the rear motherboard connectors. However, Phanteks only mentions Project Zero and Back-to-the-Future System (BTF).

The integrated cable management on the back of the motherboard socket, announced as a novelty at Computex and in which individual cable strands must be placed in appropriate cable guides, is no longer mentioned in the current presentation, so we can assume that this feature will not be in the final version that Housing has managed. This could be explained, among other things, by the fact that not all potential users rely on fully sheathed cables and therefore the box could only appeal to a small group of buyers.

The power supply and a small hard drive cage are located in the floor. Drives can be installed with two 3.5″ drives or four 2.5″ drives. The CPU cooler can protrude a maximum of 170mm in height. The graphics card can measure a maximum of 380mm in length and 178mm in height. Vertical mounting of the imager is not supplied ex factory and requires an optional bracket. Compatibility of 405 × 130 × 38mm radiators is also described for the upper fan locations. No information is provided for the bottom fans. The approximately 60 liter case can accommodate a maximum of E-ATX up to a width of 280 mm. The weight is 14.2 kg.

3 colors at different prices

When it comes to color selection, you can choose between black, white, and gold. Phanteks estimates the recommended price of the black case variant at around 150 euros. There is a supplement of 10 euros for white accommodation. The gold Evolv X2 will not be priced at launch, but will only be available in Germany through sales partner Phanteks Caseking and its subsidiaries. Availability is not mentioned for any of the models.

The Techconseil editorial team has already been promised a review sample of the Phanteks Evolv X2, so a corresponding test case will follow soon.

Techconseil received information about this article from Phanteks under NDA. The only requirement was the earliest possible publication date.
