Sony has announced that the price of the PlayStation VR2 VR headset (test) (test) will be reduced by Sony starting in March. The recommended retail price is then reduced from 599.99 euros officially to 449.99 euros. The VR headset for PlayStation 5 is currently available in stores for 450 euros.

After Sony briefly reduced the price at Christmas 2024 to 399.99 euros, the VR headset has now been listed in its own store for 599.99 euros.

Since a recent update, the PS VR2 has also supported hand tracking with low latency, allowing developers to achieve games that can track the player’s position and movement using cameras in the PS-VR2 headset. For example, the game Waltz of the Wizard already uses this function.

Also on the PC via adapter

Since Sony released the PS VR2 PC adapter in summer 2024, the PlayStation VR2, which convinced the Techconseil test, can no longer be used on PlayStation 5, but can also be connected to the PC and used with SteamVR. At Amazon, the adapter for 57.24 euros * currently costs a little less than the RRP of 59.99 euros. Some features such as HDR, headset feedback, eye tracking, adaptive shutter, and haptic feedback (except vibration) are not available when playing on the PC. However, other basic and sensory functions of PS VR2 are supported. This includes 4K graphics (2,000 x 2,040 pixels per eye), 110-degree field of view, touch recognition and view-through as well as foveated rendering (without eye tracking) and 3D audio in supported games.
