PNY presents a new SSD in the small M.2-2230 form factor. The CS2342, short at 3 cm, offers 1 TB or 2 TB of storage space. With data transfer rates of up to 7,300 MB/s for reading and 6,000 MB for writing, the performance of this format is very high.
Sequential read rates are slightly higher than those of the crucial P310 in this format, which reaches a maximum of 7,100 MB/s. The 2230-degree lead is more clearly seen in models in the 5,000 MB/s class, such as the Team Group MP44S (test) or the wd_black sn770m (test). The Goodram IRDM Pro Nano features a mini SSD, which is also specified with up to 7,300 MB.

When asked by the publisher, PNY also did not reveal which components are used in the CS2342. Crucial and Corsair rely on the Phison E27T controller, which would be at least one possible candidate. It is unclear whether PNY relies on TLC or QLC-NAND. The CS2342, which is suitable for use in gaming laptops such as the Asus ROG Ally, the MSI Claw Vapor Bridge, or the Valves due to its form factor, is expected to be available by the end of March 2025 at prices of around $70 (1 TB) and $135 (2 TB). There is still no information on the market launch in Germany.
Techastuce received the information for this article from PNY under NDA. The only requirement was that it be published as soon as possible.
