POCO F7 Pro and F7 Ultra: A lot of smartphone for relatively little money was the goal

Picture: few

With the F7 Pro and F7 Ultra, POCO wants to offer a lot of smartphone for relatively little money. Both rely on Qualcomm for a lot of performance and combine it with a fast and light OLED display. The F7 Pro the larger battery at around 600 euros, while the F7 Ultra comes with more cameras at 750 euros. €50 discount until April 10

Summary :

The F7 Pro can now be ordered in blue, black, and silver for €599.90 with 12GB/256GB and €649.90 with 16GB/512GB. The F7 Ultra is available in yellow and black for €749.90 with 12GB/256GB and €799.90 with 16GB/512GB. From market launch at 10:00 AM until April 10 at 9:59 AM, POCO is offering all four variants with a €50 discount on Mi.com. There’s also a free Xiaomi Bluetooth speaker worth €80.

8 Gen 3 and 8 Elite

The price-performance ratio should therefore be the focus of both variants. For POCO, POCO means that the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 (F7 Pro) and Snapdragon 8 Elite (F7 Ultra) are based on Qualcomm’s current and previous SoCs. Large cooling elements and heat pipes should keep temperatures in the bridges cool under load. Details and benchmarks for both chips provide several computer-based reports for their respective performance.

In-house image processor

In the F7 Ultra, POCO is also using the VisionBoost D7 to use its own graphics chip for the first time, as stated in the announcement. A graphics chip in the sense of a GPU, as is the case with the Adreno 830, for example, in the Snapdragon 8 Elite, is not meant. Rather, it’s a separate image processor that calculates intermediate frames at up to 120 fps, upscales content to “2K super resolution” and, with “Game HDR,” should guarantee “satetone contrasts” during playback. The “graphics chip” sits behind the actual GPU in the pipeline, but before image editing. Little F7 Ultra

Bright OLED displays with 1440p resolution

This, in turn, unfolds for both smartphones on a 6.67-inch AMOLED display, which offers a high resolution of 3200 × 1440 pixels, up to 120 Hz, and a full screen resolution of 1800 cd/m² to 3200 cd/m². PWM dimming takes place at 3840 Hz in 16,000 brightness levels. For the cover glass, POCO relies on its own POCO Shield Glass in the F7 Ultra, which is likely Xiaomi’s Shield Glass from the parent company, and on Gorilla Glass 7i in the F7 Pro. In the panel of both variants, a fast ultrasonic fingerprint sensor is a first for POCO.

Three cameras for the F7 Ultra

However, the differences can be found again with the cameras and batteries. There is a wider selection of lenses with the F7 Ultra, which, in addition to the main and superior one than the F7, also offers a telephoto lens with a focal length of 60 mm. The main camera of both models relies on the 1/155″ large “Fusion 800” sensor with a 50 MP option, OIS, and zoom. The ultra-wide angle camera comes with 8 MP or 32 MP, while the telephoto lens of the F7 Ultra operates again at 50 MP and also supports zoom at 120 mm.

Larger battery in the F7 Pro

More precisely, the larger battery for the F7 Pro means 6,000 mAh instead of the 5,300 mAh of the F7 Ultra. This, in turn, can be charged faster at 120 instead of 90 watts. Furthermore, only the F7 Ultra also supports wireless charging with up to 50 watts.

IP68-protected housing

All this is housed in a deep 75.0 mm chassis × 160.3 mm and 8.12 mm (per) or 8.39 mm (ultra) with IP68 certification against dust and water ingress. The back of the glass combines glossy and matte surfaces; with the F7 Ultra, the glass is also slightly curved towards the frame. A metal frame holds the two sides together, bringing the total weight to 206 g or 212 g.

POCO ships the F7 Pro and F7 Ultra with Android 15 and its own HyperOS 2. Android updates are to be made available for four years, security patches for six years. Little F7 Pro Little F7 Ultra Software:
