Radeon RX 9070 XT: 3 More Custom Designs in the Test
Techastuce had already reviewed five custom Radeon RX 9070 XT designs in early March. They came from Asrock, Asus, Sapphire, and XFX, but not from PowerColor.

Until now, the manufacturer in the RDNA-4 test marathon was only represented in the Radeon RX 9070 Custom Roundup with Hellhound and Reaper. Now, there are three more custom Radeon RX 9070 XT designs, and this time, all three come from PowerColor. The absolute top model, the PowerColor Radeon RX 9070 XT Red Devil, and the model at the bottom of the portfolio were also tested in the XT test: the PowerColor Radeon RX 9070 XT Hellhound in black and white (spectral white). The two lighthound variants differ significantly in their color choices; the technical basis is the same. Dimensions and Design
The Red Devil is PowerColor’s top model and it shows it too: with a slot thickness of 3.0 and a length of 34 cm, it trumps the Lighthound and also offers RGB lighting Much more striking:

Power Supply
With the power supply, PowerColor also relies on classic 8-pin connections in the top model, but there are three of them. Unlike the flagships from Asrock and Sapphire, the 12V-2 × 6 connector is missing. There are 8 pins on the Hellhound.
BIOS Options
PowerColor offers two BIOS options on both the Red Devil and the Hellhound: OC and Silent. On both graphics cards, the BIOS controls not only fan speeds, but also clock speeds and TDP. Test System and Test Methodology
In the departure from the known 2025 GPU Test System, a new system has been configured for testing custom designs. During these heated weeks, it may be prevented from launching reviews of a new class, and custom design testing is hampered.
Custom Design Tests in Another Case
An AMD Ryzen 7 9800x3d (test) with DDR5-6000 is also in the custom design test system, but the case is completely different: instead of the Fractal Design Torrent, the Fractal Design Meshify 2 is used with six fans (two in the front), three in the lid, and one in the rear (all blown). All housing fans are operated at a constant 800 rpm, which is barely noticeable. Control is via a Corsair Commander Pro or Corsair Icue (download).
The six housing fans operate at 800 rpm, the CPU cooler fan at 1,000 rpm.
The CPU cooler fan, a Noctua NH-U12S Redux, rotates at 1,000 rpm.
All tests and benchmarks are conducted in this configuration; only the volume measurement takes place with the fans deactivated, isolated from the graphics card (30 cm distance from the side door with the fan open under load).
Both available BIOS versions are tested in the test. For this purpose, the graphics card (as in the standard test course) is operated in Metro Exodus Enhanced Edition in UHD for maximum detail and with the housing wall closed. A benchmark is performed after 5 minutes. The benchmark result and measured values for temperatures, speeds, clock rates, and power consumption are then recorded.
