AMD Rade Radeon RX 9070 GRE supports the new AMD Adrenaline 25.5.1 WHQL driver for the first time. Linux users still need to be patient, the appropriate driver for the Penguin faction will follow this month. The driver is game-ready for F1 25 and Doom: The Dark Ages and completes official FSR 4 support in seven games.
Game ready for F1 25 and Doom: The Dark Ages
AMD’s new driver in version 25.5.1 WHQL now officially takes F1 25. The licensed racing game for Formula 1 will be released on May 30, 2025. The game-ready label for Doom: The Dark Ages is also coming more than in time. The first-person shooter is the sequel to Doom (2016) and Doom: Eternal.
There are seven new titles on the list of games that support AMD FidelityFX Super Resolution 4, including Frostpunk 2 and Ghost of Tsushima.

The list of supported games for AMD HYPR-RX-Tune is also expanded by five titles with this driver. This means that gamers can be enabled with a comfortable mouse click driver function such as AMD Fluid Motoron Frames 2, AMD Radeon Super Resolution, Anti-LAG 2, Boost or Chill as well as the maximum possible FSR as well as frame generation, provided this is supported by the respective game.

Vulkan support has expanded
For the Vulkan API, AMD supports version 1.4 and the VK_ext_shader_replicated_composites, VK_KHR_MAINLENSE8, and VK_EXT_IMAGE_2D_VIEW_OF_3D extensions.
Fixed and Known Bugs
According to the official Changlog, AMD’s new driver fixes six issues or provides improvements. These fixed bugs affect Ryzen AI Max and Max+; if the default settings were restored during driver installation, a connected camera may no longer be recognized. When installing AMD chat, the installation process remains at 0% when upgrading to an RX 9000 graphics card. Additionally, with the RX 9000, a system crash occurred on SteamVR, and Metro Exodus and Civilization VII crashed, the latter only with AMD anti-LAG enabled.
A third more, however, is the list of known but unresolved issues. This includes crashes or driver timeouts in the latest installments of US Part 2 or Cyberpunk 2077, as well as image stuttering when using VR headsets with an 80 or 90 Hz refresh rate in connection with Radeon RX-7000 graphics cards. The latter can be fixed as a workaround with a modified refresh rate. Battlefield 1 with Radeon RX 9000 and Ryzen 9 9950X also affects other issues, where the CPU’s IGPU must be disabled.
Error removed from list
The integrated camera may not be detected after driver installation using the factory reset option on some Ryzen™ AI Max and Max+ Series Radeon™ graphics products, such as the Radeon™ RX 9000 Series. Users experiencing this issue are advised to disable motion smoothing in SteamVR settings. An intermittent application crash or driver timeout may be observed when playing Metro Exodus Enhanced Edition. An intermittent crash or driver timeout may be observed when loading Civilization VII with an incompetent anti-editing user interface.
List of known and unresolved errors
An intermittent application or driver timeout may be observed when playing The Last American Part 2. Stutter may be observed when playing games with certain VR headsets at 80Hz or 90Hz refresh rates on certain AMD Radeon graphics products such as the Radeon RX 7000 series. Users experiencing this issue are recommended to change the refresh rate as a temporary workaround. An intermittent system or application crash may be observed when playing Cyberpunk 2077. Launch may be observed for Battlefield 1 on Radeon RX 9000 series graphics products with Ryzen 9 9950x integrated graphics. Users experiencing these issues are recommended to disable integrated graphics (IGPU) in the system BIOS as a temporary workaround. An intermittent crash or driver timeout may be observed when playing Hunter Wilds with Radeon Anti-Lag and Instant Replay Entipped. Artifacts or corruption may appear while playing RADEON RX 7000 series graphics products. AMD Radeon Boost may be observed while playing Call of Duty: Warzone Season 3 Verdansk Map on some AMD graphics products.
