Radeon RX 8800 XT: What does AMD's new reference design for RDNA 4 GPUs look like?

AMD is currently said to have posted ads promoting and Radeon online – and may have revealed what the manufacturer will present under the name “Radeon RX 8000” in early January 2025. Because there were banners showing a previously unknown reference design – an RX 8800 XT with RDNA 4 GPU?

More fun than the Radeon RX 7000

Reddit user SubtleSerenity became suspicious after watching the ads. Two different “creations” would have been in circulation. Both flaunt a triple-fan equipped graphics card in black and gray, which was not previously available in AMD’s portfolio.

While the RDNA 3 generation was released as the Radeon RX 7000 in simple black, the RDNA 2 generation as the Radeon RX 6000 still comes with silver accents. The alleged RDNA-4 generation returns to slightly more striking design features.

Ultimately, it could just be an AI-generated image that simply marks a symbolic image for the campaign.

Radeon RX 8000 confirmed for early 2025

AMD confirmed the launch of the new Radeon RX 8000 series (but not under that name) for early 2025 to investors in October. Recently, leaks have increased.

The Radeon RX 8000 will be based on the RDNA 4 architecture, but will not include any high-end GPUs – this is also official. It is assumed that the top-of-the-line Radeon RX 8800 XT model will at best be able to beat its own high-end predecessor, the Radeon RX 7900 XTX.
