While the RADEON RX 9070 GRE planned for the Asian market is again based on the larger RX 9070 XT and Radeon RX 9070 (review), the Radeon RX 9060 XT relies on the smaller RX. It is likely to be nearly half the size of a RX 48, as the latest rumors confirm.
With 8 or 16 GB GDDR6
It has long been suspected that the Radeon RX 9060 XT, like the GeForce RTX 5060 Ti, will be released with a 128-bit interface and 8 GB and 16 GB of graphics memory. For the 16 GB capacity, two 2 GB memory building blocks are connected to a 32-bit memory controller using a clamp-on clamshell process. Nvidia is taking the same approach with the 5060 Ti, and the NVIDIA RTX Pro 6000 with 96 GB also uses this approach.
Half as many shaders as the RX 9070 XT
VideoCardz now reports that the GPU on the Radeon RX 9060 XT should offer 2,048 shaders for active users—half as many as the Radeon RX 9070 XT. Both graphics cards are likely to use the full chip.
In terms of clock speeds, as smaller GPUs are expected, a higher level is expected: the typical game clock should be 220 MHz higher, and the boost should be 250 MHz higher than the RX 9070 XT. Compared to the RX 9070, the difference is much greater.
Date still unknown
A specific date for the Radeon RX 9060 XT’s unveiling is still unclear, but Calpex 2025 in Taipei at the end of May is likely.
