RADEON RX 9070 XT: Furious result with driver hack fueled high expectations 166 comments

Could the Radeon RX 9070 XT be faster than expected? This question arises from the first results of the Furmmark benchmark. With OpenGL and 4K UHD, the alleged RX 9070 XT almost reaches the level of the previous flagship RX 7900 XTX. It doesn’t appear that way in the Geekbench scores discovered in parallel.
The RX 9070 XT in the furmarque
Tomasz Gawroński refers to Furmmark’s results from a Radeon RX 9070 XT. He discovered several results which are 7926, 7931, 7941 and the previous maximum value of 7979 points. A “Radeon RX 7800 XT” speaks all inputs.
The device ID 1002-7550 reveals that it is another graphics card. The Real Radeon RX 7800 XT has device number 1002 747E and an RX 7900 The device ID 1002-7550 has also been assigned to the RX 9070 series several times and can also be found in the GeekBench results (see below).

The performance level would exceed previous expectations (at least in this benchmark). Videocardz heats up the rumor mill, talks about a possible “surprise” and writes about the new rumors, according to which AMD will announce the RX 9070 XT with 40% higher production than the RX 7900 GRE in 4K gaming.
In the Geekbench, the RX 9070 XT is not so fixed
For a long time not so euphoric, the recently discovered Geekbench results (via Benchleaks) of the RX 9070 XT. Tom’s hardware compared them with typical results from other graphics cards. Here an RX 7900 XT in OpenGL is already 16% ahead, an RX 7900 XTX is even a third faster. With OpenCL, however, it’s almost almost a tie with the RX 7900 XT.
There are also results for the slower RX 9070, according to which it reaches the level of the RX 7800 XT.
The big question about meaning
It remains to be seen to what extent these preliminary test results have any significant value for the finished product in stores. There is officially no suitable driver for the RX 9070 (XT) and benchmarks have talked about modified drivers, but theoretically allow for different performance than the final drivers.
Tand-proof game levels are still missing. There were at least initial indications in this direction a good month ago, which saw an RX 9070
There is soon a certainty
It doesn’t take too long to finally provide detailed information from the official side. On February 28, a presentation begins at 2 p.m., which everyone can follow live on the AMD Gaming YouTube channel and in which the “RX 9000 series” is to be revealed.
The information is not as official as the first tests could be released on March 5. The market launch is scheduled to take place a day later on March 6.
