RTX 5080 Grand: Alleged specifications with 24 GB of VRAM have surfaced

It’s hardly surprising that is working on a RTX 5080. Now, well-known leaker Kopite7Kimi has published alleged specifications for the X, which are more detailed with the upcoming graphics card. These confirm what has been suspected so far.

As always, these are just rumors. Even if these are correct after the current time, this doesn’t that NVIDIA isn’t adjusting the specifications again before launch or that the currently planned variant is even completely reduced. Both have happened several times in the past. According to current rumors, the GeForce RTX 5080, like the original GeForce RTX 5080 (review), will feature the GB203, while the Gressche RTX 5090 remains reserved. However, this also means that there are no more shading units, because with 10,752 FP32 ALUs, the current card already uses all the computing units physically available on the GPU.

This probably only slightly increases computing power.

This means that the GeForce RTX 5080 can only increase its performance by increasing cycles and/or more energy. There is no information on the clock; operating consumption is expected to be 400 watts or even higher. The normal GeForce RTX 5080 stops at 360 watts.

The GeForce RTX 5080 makes the real difference in memory. Not with the memory interface, it remains at 256-bit. However, there should be a little more memory bandwidth: 32 Gbps should offer the GDDR7 memory of the “Super”, while the normal variant uses 28 Gbps memory. Experience has shown that this won’t make a difference in .

Faster memory with 24 GB

However, this could change with the memory size, because while the GeForce RTX 5080 relied on 16 GB of VRAM, the GeForce RTX 5080 Super is expected to have 24 GB, thus placing it in the middle between the RTX 5080 and RTX 5090. This is already being used by memory chips with a higher capacity of 3 GB instead of 2 GB, which is already used on the LAPT, instead of 2 GB, which is already in use (tested) today.

If the GeForce RTX 5080 Super appears in this form, it will be the case at the earliest—and that would be surprisingly early. 2026 is more realistic, but this is a purely strategic decision by Nvidia, not a technical one. The release date can therefore be freely defined. Topics: GeForce GeForce RTX 50 Nvidia Nvidia Blackwell graphics cards Source: X (Twitter)
