RDNA 4 & RX 9000 Rumors: FSR 4 Should Work Automatically on All FSR 3.1 Titles 71 comments
New rumors certify that FSR 4 has the ability to be enabled by the driver on all current titles with FSR 3.1. At the launch of the RX 9070 (XT), up to 53 FSR4-Ready titles in March.
Support in a few clicks
According to the generally well-informed Kepler (X), this should overwrite the FSR-3.1 DLL in supported games. The driver then simply replaces FSR 3.1 with FSR 4. According to Kepler, this should “just work”.
Nvidia also plans to support multi-frame generation with DLSS 4 in all previous titles with DLSS Frame Generation. So we can assume that AMD is also taking advantage of the fact that the libraries have been separated for frame generation and supersampling since FSR 3.1. While Nvidia is swapping out those for DLSS Frame Generation, AMD is improving the supersampling DLL at FSR.
Expect significant improvements for 4
This should be fortunate, because AMD was still silent regarding the details of RDNA4 and FSR 4, there was a short public demo of the new super-resolution algorithm, which shows significant improvements. What performance gains RDNA 4 and actual improvements FSR can now expect in concrete terms remains open.
For now, only RX 9000 compatible
A hint of bitterness can also be read in Kepler (X)’s tweets: DLL swapping should only be supported with the new RDNA 4 driver, which in turn will only work on RX 9000 cards. In March, the first two models will start with the RX 9070 and RX 9070 XT while they should probably be released in January.

FSR 4 soon also for the RX 7000?
However, AMD has already announced its commitment to implementing FSR 4 for the RDNA 3 and therefore the RX 7000. However, there is still no firm promise. The fact that at launch the new cards only have the capacity to exchange DLLs therefore seems conclusive.
53 games would be FSR4-Ready
As VideoCardz reports, up to 53 games would benefit from the RX 9070 (XT) release in March, which are already supported by FSR 3.1 or for which an update has been promised. In the list there are titles like Ark. Survival Ascended, but also Ghost of Tsushima and Marvel Rivals. This would support FSR 4 more than a handful of titles.
