Samsung is bundling the new Xcover 7 Pro rugged smartphone with the Galaxy Tab Active 5 Pro, a tablet also designed for use on construction sites and areas. The faster hardware is also moving into the tablet, but the real standout feature is the dual batteries with a hot-swap function.

The battery can be replaced via a hot-swap function

The Galaxy Tab Active 5 Pro is one of the few tablets in which the battery can be removed without additional tools and replaced quickly. Samsung relies on a dual-battery assembly, which together generates 10,100 mAh, and one of which can be replaced during operation via a hot-swap function without losing data in the RAM. The tablet can also be operated entirely without batteries using an external power supply, which can be problematic for stationary use, such as as a cash register system or securely mounted in a truck.

Show 120Hz upgrade

Analogous to the Galaxy Xcover 7 Pro, the tablet case is certified according to IP68 and MIL-STD-810H. This is intended to protect the one-handed tablet against permanent immersion and against extreme temperatures and air pressures, sunlight, humidity, chemicals, acceleration forces and vibration. Corning's Gorilla Glass Victus+ would protect the 10.1-inch display, which recently worked with up to 120 Hz. The display can also be operated using an S-Pen, which can be stored in the included protective cover. This should allow the tablet to be operated even in the rain or with gloves on.

A model with 5G for 809 euros

Samsung launches the Galaxy Tab Active 5 Pro in a single configuration with 6 GB of RAM, 128 GB of expandable memory and with 5G (Nano-SIM and ESIM) for 809 euros. The predecessor is only available with WLAN and 4 GB / 64 GB memory for 479 euros, with 5G the same memory configuration is 514 euros. Since the beginning of last year, Samsung has also offered a Tab Galaxy Active 5 without “Pro” for 328 euros. With 5G support, this variant is 409 euros.

Faster processor and eight-year updates

With the 7S Gen 3, a faster processor from Qualcomm of 4nm production comes into the tablet, after the Snapdragon 778G has been used until now. Instead of the Cortex-A78 and A55, significantly newer CPU cores of the type Cortex-A720 and A520 are combined, which also supports the Adreno 810 a stronger GPU.

On the side, Samsung deviates software support on the tablet from the usual seven years and even gives eight years because the device is expected to be used in the selected target groups in the long term.
