Samsung’s Galaxy smartphone series currently runs with the manufacturer’s own user interface, One UI 6, on the “old” 14. However, that will soon change. Samsung has launched a beta version for One UI 7, which is currently reserved for the current S24 models.

KI-Features and focus

With this update, Samsung is clearly placing more emphasis on AI features and their integration into the user interface than on the new version of Android, which is now making its way onto Galaxy . Galaxy AI should now be even more accessible and intuitive to use in everyday life.

As an example, Samsung cites the integration of the assistant, which can summarize any selected text in bullet points without having to switch between apps. This should allow users to work more smoothly and productively.

Another highlighted feature is the creation of transcriptions from phone calls. When activated, the smartphone automatically transcribes calls and stores them in the call list for later access, so users can avoid taking notes during the conversation. According to Samsung, 20 different languages are already supported.

New notification system and new design

Unsurprisingly, there will also be innovations in the user interface. Samsung wants to completely overhaul the display of notifications, especially on the lock screen, and has introduced the Now Bar for this purpose.

This is intended to clearly display current activities such as media playing, current recordings, stopwatch or an enabled interpreter on the lock screen and give users control over them without having to unlock the phone .

A new design also appears on the home screen. Samsung wants to create more clarity here through simplification. The widgets also received a new look to fit into the whole and create a consistent design line.

Other UI changes affect the camera app. Here, for example, the advanced camera settings menu has been redesigned and should be more comfortable to use. But the trigger and other controls have also been reorganized. The interface for Pro and Pro Video modes has also been simplified. The latter has received a new zoom control, which should ensure smoother transitions.

Initially rolling out only for the Galaxy S24 series

The One UI 7 beta is currently only available for the Galaxy S24 (test), Galaxy S24+ and Galaxy S24 Ultra (test) and is limited to users in Germany, India, Korea, Poland, UK and USA. The predecessors of the Galaxy S23 series are currently left behind, as is the Galaxy S24 FE. To access it, interested users must register for the One UI Beta program.
