Samsung One UI 7: Second Beta for Android 15 Brings More AI to the Galaxy S23

After Samsung also announced the expansion of its beta program for Android 15, including One UI 7 for the Galaxy S23 in early March, development is progressing steadily. Now, the has released a second beta, which will bring selected AI features from the Galaxy S25 to the 2023 flagship.

The update, called ZYCE, is currently being distributed in Great Britain, and it is assumed that other countries will follow. The new beta version will again only support the Galaxy S23, S23+, and Galaxy S23 Ultra; the Galaxy S23 Fe is excluded as it is not part of the One UI 7 beta program. Some features carried over from the Galaxy S25

With the second update, the Galaxy S23 series receives some of the AI features from the Galaxy S25 (review). This includes, among other things, Google’s Gemini quick launch feature by long-pressing the power button, as well as the ability to highlight any text in an app or website to summarize it or apply other writing tools. Features such as the Audio Eraser remain reserved for newer models in the Galaxy series, including the current Galaxy S25, the previous S24 series, the Galaxy Z Fold 6, the Galaxy Z Flip 6, and the Galaxy Tab S10 series tablets.

As usual in a beta phase, the update also fixes some bugs. For example, presentation issues with overlapping letters in widgets in UI 7 have been fixed, and music control has also been improved. The update also contains Google’s patches for Android starting in March 2025.

The final update is still a long way off

Samsung had already announced that the One UI 7 rollout would take place on April 7th. However, it’s safe to assume that the new Galaxy models mentioned above will ship with the update, so it could still take some time for the Galaxy S23 to receive the long-awaited update. It therefore seems possible that the smartphone and Android 15 have already released Android 16 for its Pixel models.
