With the “Extreme Portable SSD for PlayStation 5 Console and PC”, Sandisk now also offers a well-known external SSD as a version, especially for the game console – with a suitable logo. The “new” SSD is based on the extremely extreme portable SSD with the same properties. With the PlayStation logo, however, it costs up to 50 euros more.
The product is already managed on the company’s website. The recommended retail price of the 1 TB model is 125.99 euros, with 2 TB 184.99 euros is called. Both models are immediately available from Sandisk.
New housing with PlayStation logo
However, you should only buy the external SSD if the new white housing with blue accents and the PlayStation logo should be the most important properties. The basis is the Extreme Portable SSD from Sankisk, which, after the first presentation in 2018, received an update to the “V2” with twice as high transmission rates.
Regular models are cheaper
In the meantime, the almost five-year-old external SSD offers Sandisk itself for 119.99 euros with 1 TB and for currently 135.99 euros reduced instead of the regular 174.99 euros with 2 TB. For online retailers the 1-TB version can be found from 97 euros, with 2 TB the price is 136 euros. For the new color and PlayStation logo, Sandisk pays up to 50 euros more.

IP65 and drop protection from a height of three meters
The PlayStation 5 console and portable extreme PC measures 100.8 x 52.55 x 9.6 mm, weighs 69.4 g, and is IP65 drop-proof up to three meters. Sandisk offers a five-year warranty on the SSD. Both the base model and the twice-faster Pro version had to contend with failures.
Same technical data
Sandisk only lists a read speed of 1,000 MB/s for both capacities. USB-C 3.2 GEN 2 with 10 Gbps (1.25 GB/s) is used as the interface. Technically, the SSD is identical to the base model, which can be used as a memory expansion on the game console even without the PlayStation logo.
