Sharkoon AK5G and AK5M RGB: Fans emphasize the angularity of the case design 10 comments

Sharkoon’s midi tower, the AK5G and AK5M stand out. This is due to the manufacturer‘s new “Shark Lights” fans, which emphasize their square frame with two LED strips and thus fit well with the square look of a case – they emphasize the angularity of the design.
The fact that there are two versions of the tower only indicates a difference in the font: the AK5G covers the front with glass, the AK5M uses a wavy mesh like a curtain. Otherwise, the layout and design remain the same – exactly the way to emphasize the “edge” of the design.
The fans are the thing
The heart of the design are four included Shark Lights fans with a frame width of 120 mm, which can be operated between 500 and 1,700 rpm via a PWM connection. They are illuminated via three LED strips with a total of 20 LEDs, two of which emphasize the frame. For assembly, the front part of the frame must be removed to access the screws, which will be hidden from view. The four fans are controlled via a PWM hub for four fans, which is already fully used ex works.

Additional fans can be mounted on the cover, on the power supply cover and on the right side panel. Heat exchangers can also be installed behind the front or under the cover; a maximum of 360 mm models are possible. CPU coolers can be 170 millimeters high.
However, if a radiator is attached to the side, the maximum length of the graphics card can be reduced to 260 millimeters. Otherwise, there is no practically relevant length limit for graphics cards, just a bracket that protects the PCB from bending.
The hard drives come in a carrier at the bottom of the case and in two 2.5″ carriers behind the motherboard. The AK5 also has a dust filter, but according to the instructions on the front it is located behind the fans. There is also a USB 3.2 port on the I/O panel with available C connector.
Pricing and availability
Both versions of the AK5 are offered in black and white and are already available in stores for around 90 euros.
