Silverstone Crown 04: Thanks to the old-fashioned structure, nothing limits the HTPC 36 comments

The Crown 04 is an old-fashioned living room case with a modern Silverstone look. Its strength lies in its size. As with the very first HTPC case, nothing limits it, as ATX components can be installed thanks to the generous structure. They are only packaged slightly differently.
Silverstone advertises the Crown 04 as a “timeless heart” of the living room. This refers to the exterior cladding made of two to three millimeters of thick aluminum and the clean appearance, which is somewhat reminiscent of hi-fi equipment. The power button and I/O ports are hidden behind a panel at the bottom of the front A-shaped design that Silverstone has been using in large HTPC cases since the beginning of the millennium. The design of the Crown 04 largely corresponds to that of a standard ATX tower, which has been removed. The main board, maximum in the E-ATX or SSI EEB form factor, is therefore horizontally located in the case. The graphics card fits there. It can be 400 millimeters long and 159 millimeters wide if the pre-installed brackets are used. Without, 198 millimeters.

The Crown 04 also leaves plenty of space for CPU coolers: 180 millimeters of height are not currently included in the selection. Three 120 mm fans on the left side are provided for air exchange. Additional fans can be retrofitted to the rear and on the lid, where a bracket on the CPU base occupies three more 120 mm fans.
However, the bracket is primarily intended for AIO cooling and allows for the attachment of a 360 mm radiator. Another version also fits the left side panel. However, the fans and radiators installed there reduce the number of usable expansion slots; the pre-installed fans already require two slots.
With this arrangement, the power supply is located on the right side of the interior next to the main board and, depending on the alignment, can support ventilation if necessary. In front of the power supply and behind the front, Silverstone distributes 3.5″ and 2.5″ hard drives.
Price and availability open
Silverstone has not yet announced when and at what price the Crown 04 will be available. However, it is expected that the model will cost at least 180 euros, based on the pricing of the Grandia series, and will therefore clearly be in the premium range.
