F2P simulation racing game Rennsport from Competition Company and Teyon is available in Early Access on Steam and the Epic Games Store starting today. This means that test racing will disappear from all participants’ game library and with EA’s release all progress will be reset and an in-game store will be introduced.
Scope and technical basis
Racing was developed in Unreal Engine 5 by the company Competition from Munich and Teyon from Krakow, Poland. Teyon recently worked on RoboCop: Rogue City and Terminator: Resistance. Currently, players of the racing game can access 16 cars and 13 circuits, only one of which is not accessible to everyone for free: the Nürburgring Nordschleife. On a weekly rotation, other vehicles will be available free of charge to all, currently the Porsche 911 GT3 R (992). The game’s audio and text are currently only available in English. The download remains very manageable at just under 20 GB.

Racing as an EA version
According to the developers, the game is expected to leave early access again in 2025. The racing game will remain a free game even after early access, so a price increase is not expected. However, this does not necessarily apply to the costs of tracks and cars in the in-game store. The developers hope to be able to integrate the community into the development and optimization process as best as possible via the Discord server. Bugs and issues can be reported in the bug tracker. At the start of the EA, the cards are shuffled and all alpha and beta testing progress is reset. Players will lose experience points, lap records and all leaderboards will be reset.
The game is only available for PC in the Steam Store and the Epic Game Store. The associated app is available for iOS and Android.
Free-2-Play doesn’t mean everything is free
Like all free-2-play titles, the game does not have a purchase price, but as usual the game will be financed by in-game purchases, in this case with the cars, as well as with the so-called Founder’s Pack. These are available in three different levels priced from 20 to 70 euros. They all contain the Nürburgring Nordschleife, which is not available separately, as well as different badges, cars and paint jobs. In the case of the Diamond package, the player’s name appears on Rennsport’s own community circuit. The cars that can be purchased cost the equivalent of around 10 to 14 euros.

Patch for today’s EA version 1.12.0
With early access to races starting today, a big patch with version number 1.12.0 has been released. In addition to many improvements in the physics of the various cars, including GT3 racing cars, and numerous bug fixes, performance has also been improved and support for DirectX 11 has been removed as it is incompatible with some new functions. The new content now includes the BMW M2 CS Racing as a new vehicle, which all EA players can add to their account permanently and for free at launch. The developers have overhauled the UI for the entire game. The new features mainly relate to early access additions. Stickers can now be stuck on cars and dashboard, at the same time a battle pass and rewards system has been added, as well as a player title mechanic and player background images and an in-game store as well as the automatic rotation system. for weekly free vehicles. Improvements include pit crew animations, yellow flag zones in the mini-map, and sector comparison in time trail mode. All changes are in the full Rennsport changelog.
