Smart Home: Eve app finally available for Android 13

Eve’s smart home devices have long been permanently integrated into Apple‘s HomeKit and could not be used without an iPhone or iPad. With the Thread wireless standard and the Matter Smart Home protocol, it was clear that this had to change and that Android would also be supported. The Eve Android app is now available for download.
Two years later than planned
More than two years ago, at IFA 2022, Eve Systems announced that it wanted to bring an Android app for its own smart home products to market in the same year. Numerous problems have repeatedly led to delays, which is why buyers of the new Matter-compatible Eve products have so far had to rely on an iPhone to set them up. This changes at least partially with the free Eve app for Matter in the Google Play Store and currently only theoretically opens all products that have been converted to Matter in recent years or published directly with the new standard, also for Android. .

At the moment only one device is supported
The Eve application for Android in version 1.0 initially launches only with support for the Eve Thermo radiator thermostat with Matter, which is connected via Google Home. The new Eve app for Android was developed based on Google’s APIs for Google Home, making it one of the first smart home apps to use it. Support for additional Eve devices, additional platforms such as Amazon Alexa and Samsung SmartThings, and languages is in progress and will be added in future versions of the app. However, the company does not reveal a specific timeline.

The application allows you to independently create and manage working day and holiday schedules on Eve Thermo, with comfort and reduction temperatures as well as additional temperatures specific to each room being configurable. Temperature differences between the valve and the center of the room can also be adjusted.
Matter version of Eve Thermo in Handel
Alongside the launch of the application, sales of the Eve Thermo smart radiator thermostat will also begin in stores in the Matter version. Eve Thermo could already be manually switched to Matter. The recommended retail price of the Matter version of Eve Thermo is 79.95 euros.
