Why a smoking board at all?
Sffox wanted to exchange their gigabyte board for a better version and found what they were looking for on the used market. Unfortunately, the first time it was revealed that the board had seen more nicotine in their lives than some smokers.
So the question was in the room: dismiss or venture a rescue attempt. But how? Because the stench in particular is very persistent and is not small with air. Sffox remembered an old video of Roman Der8au Hartung, who liked to clean his main boards in the dishwasher. Sfffox therefore also moved, because the smell simply could not be controlled
While the machine was running I tried to get rid of the smell on the back plate with isopropanol and got a yellow discoloration on the kitchen towels. I decided against the dishwasher on this component due to the insulating insulation film and rubber spacers. The smell wasn’t really usual, so I decided to throw everything in the machine (plastic cover, its RGB board, the chip board cooler including the fan, the external wifi antenna 😂), because that’s the only way I saw a chance to get rid of the smell.

One thing must be taken into account: the board must be able to dry long enough after cleaning. So that nowhere a small puddle or drop that leads to a short circuit or corrosion, Sffox used a heating fan and a hairdryer to dry it equally hard. The effort was successful: the smell had evaporated after cleaning, but the X570’s main board still worked.

Rice as a “moisturizer” can also help if you’re not getting the electronics right. The author of these lines, for example, had to dry out his Nikon D3300 in February 2019 in this way, because it refused to be used after a snowstorm – the camera is still in use today.

Avoid regeneration salt (special salt)
You should avoid regenerator salt in the dishwasher, like Sffox did. Additionally, it had run the dishwasher without any cleaner tabs.

Water + salt + electronics ≠ best friends
Because in a dishwasher, salt regeneration is used to settle the water. The salt regeneration is cleaned of sodium chloride, so that the salt water in the continuous array is exposed. The whole thing will probably work for a while, but at some point it will take damage. In addition, the plaintiffs are still used in a dishwasher, which consists of surfactants, alcohol and lactic acid or citric acid. Which shows it so that water in thin layers can work evenly, with a main picture of the fact that it enters every smallest crack.
