South of Midnight: the action-adventure evokes the folklore of the American South 32 comments
Midnight South is a new third-person action adventure developed by Compulsion Games, the Canadian creators of Contrast and We Happy A Few, and published by Xbox. The southern gothic adventure will be released on April 8. There is now a gameplay trailer and system requirements.
Folklore is now Hazel’s reality
After a disastrous hurricane hits Hazel’s hometown and her mother disappears, the young woman finds herself in a dark world of memories. Hazel is meant to become a weaver there: a magician who can heal bones as well as spirits. With this power, she is meant to literally correct Prospero’s world with the weave so that she can face dangerous creatures and defeat them. Much of the world fits the folk tales of the American South, as do some of the creatures that live there. With her new abilities, Hazel is now searching for her mother and must uncover her own family’s past at the same time.
Weaving is an ancient power that Hazel uses to restore creatures to their original forms and uncover the traumas that afflict ghosts and monsters. Prospero has various regions that Hazel wants to explore and also many residents. The dilapidated Prospero and its residents bear witness to a deep history.

Choice between standard and premium editions
The South of Midnight will be released on April 8, 2025 on Steam or in the Xbox app for Windows PC and Xbox Series X | S. The game will also be available through Xbox Cloud Gaming. The game will also be part of the Xbox Game Pass directly on the release date.
The game can be pre-ordered on Steam for almost 40 euros or the premium edition for almost 50 euros. The title costs more on Xbox: South of Midnight costs almost 45 euros and the Premium edition costs almost 60 euros. The latter includes the following additional and digital media:

However, these media are only available in English. Additionally, Premium Edition players get an additional five days of access to the game.
System requirements are not high
The system requirements are low for 2025. However, the developer mentions that performance is expected to scale with high-end systems.
