Stalker 2: Heart of Chornobyl (review) was criticized for the release due to too many bugs. Now the developers have released the upcoming patch 1.2. The update reportedly brings over 1,700 improvements, the improvements affect balancing, game world, crashes, quests, performance and life 2.0.

The so-called 1700+ improvements affect almost every playthrough of Stalker 2: Heart of Chornobyl. GSC Game World has outlined the many changes in their extensive Changelog and divided them into several categories. This includes AI, balancing, optimization, crashes, missions, sound, music, voiceover, player equipment and story.

Technology Help

Many bugs have been fixed relating to NPCs and corpse looting. Combat with mutants should now work better, which despite their ability to only jump around the player as soon as it has been increased. In total, more than 70 problems were eliminated with AI. The game was also tabled, so that, for example, the spawn rate of exoskeleton NPCs was reduced and radiation damage increased depending on the player’s radiation points.

Performance of individual boss fights would have been improved. Frame drop issues in the Pause menu or when the PDA is closed should no longer occur. Pause and main menu and loading screen were limited in its maximum frame rate. A lot of things happened in the quests. Several fixes no longer affect the triggering of quests after the death of NPCs. Sometimes players would suddenly find themselves outside of the game world, and this should have been fixed by now.

In addition to individual information about frame drops, no general improvements have been announced that would reduce problems with high CPU load.

Story improvement

More than 300 issues affecting story and quests were reportedly resolved with patch 1.2, the exact contents of which are not described here for spoiler reasons. If you like to see in the Changelog and tolerate smaller spoilers, you don’t immediately see the larger spoilers because they are blacked out and only become visible by mouseover or marking the text.

Additional improvements in preview

There have been other improvements in the area. Various issues with artifacts have been resolved and locked doors in the context of certain missions would no longer occur. Player equipment and its condition learn over 50 upgrades. Grenades should no longer disappear if thrown at enemies in front of their feet. Small bushes should no longer trigger an automatic lean.

Another big dynamic of improvements affects the game world, in which certain areas may have locked the player in or have now seen optical improvements. Finally, there are still some issues in the cutscenes, like the lack of NPC hairstyles or the Ukrainian and English voice production in quest. The facial expressions of some NPCs have been improved and many sound and music issues are now also a thing of the past.

Additional Bugfixes from Patch 1.2 Zu Stalker 2: Heart of Chornobylfixed a bug with life NPCs unable to properly approach corpses. Now they can take the best loot and weapons from it, and upgrade to more powerful weapons. or pause menu. Lock framerate added during pause menu, main menu and loading screens. The Player’s flashlight now casts shadows on objects. After the death of the NPCs. When no videos were playing Screenwall during a dangerous links mission for Store PC players.

The very long list of complete changes can be found in the official Patch 1.2 Changelog. The developers promise that they continue to have an open ear for bug reports on social media and will follow up with more fixes.
