The major “die-sims” competitor, Inzoi, meanwhile, ranked fourth in Steam wishlists. The life simulation was finally released on March 28th, but initially only as an Early Access title.
After its release, the trade press was highly critical. Most of the reviews can be summed up as “unfinished.” In principle, the game‘s release is more of a character and house editor, but not yet the life simulation that can be seen on Steam. South Korean developer Inzoi Studio, which is also part of South Korean publisher Krafton, describes the game’s status on Steam as follows:
The current version includes a large portion of the game’s core systems, such as our core simulation and visual elements—especially the character setup (“Create ZOI”).
Regardless of the game’s current status and the critics, which Inzoi dismisses as a blender with no depth of content due to the considerable graphics based on the Unreal Engine, the game on Steam is certainly very interesting.
Just one week after release, Krafton has now reported that one million units have already been sold. The user rating on Steam is also “very positive” at 83%, with over 14,500 reviews. Shortly after release, however, it was 86%.
However, the number of players dropped significantly after release, although this is not unusual for Early Access titles. While 87,377 players were playing concurrently on Friday, March 28, a weekend later, the number was down to only about 26,000.
Inzoi
Incidentally, Krafton is no stranger to the game. In addition to the now-defunct online role-playing game Tera, PUBG is particularly well-known: Battlegrounds. Subautica, which still receives “overwhelmingly positive” reviews on Steam, is now part of Krafton.
Roadmap to December 2025
Krafton has also released a roadmap for Inzoi. By the end of the year, it promises several major updates, each with a number of adjustments.
The first major update is already planned for May and promises, for example, improvements to the relationship system, adoptions are also possible, and you get the ability to use cheats.
Update number two is planned for August and will introduce pools and an AI building mode, as well as improvements to jobs and parenting.
The third update is expected in October and will implement new furniture, among other things, as well as a family tree. The fourth and final major update in 2025 is scheduled for release in December and addresses, for example, character (“Zois”) interactions with internal temperature, past memories, and the properties of other Zois.
Cheap in Early Access
Zois is available on Steam for €39.99, but according to the developer, the developer is getting more expensive. According to Krafton, the Early Access phase has been in development for at least a year from the beginning, so a release is not in sight in the medium term.
