Uni Fan 120 Wireless & Strimer Wireless: Lian Li controls fans and lights with a “WLAN cable” 52 comments
Lian Li reduces the number of fan cables in the Uni-Fan series beyond the daisy-chain capability. A “WLAN cable” is also used to control the LEDs and display of the fan. Lighted Strimer cables receive the same option.
The new wireless fans can be plugged in as usual. The metal contacts then conduct electricity from one fan to the other. Only the first fan in a row should be connected to a power source, such as a fan connector on the motherboard, using a PWM cable. The fans receive signals through a wireless adapter plugged into the frame. When you purchase a three-pack, Lian Li also includes a 12V to SATA adapter for power. The power consumption of the fans increases: the Uni Fan Wireless have 40 LEDs instead of 32, because Lian Li adds a light strip on the sides of the fans.
Speed and dual-zone lighting are now controlled wirelessly via a 2.4GHz controller. This is simply plugged into a USB port on the motherboard. Either a rear port can be used as a normal WLAN dongle or an internal USB port.

The “L-Wireless Controller” has 10 channels that can equip up to four fans. In addition, future wireless products should also be able to be controlled via the same controller – so the product range will be further expanded. Currently only Strimer series RGB cables are sold in the new wireless version.
According to Lian Li, the wireless fans are intended to simplify cable management and reduce the number of 9-pin USB ports required on the motherboard. However, with LCD fans that have a 1.6″ screen in the fan hub, an internal USB port is still required to control the screen.

Prices and availability
Uni Fan Wireless are not yet listed in Germany. In the United States, the recommended retail price for one LCD fan with receiver is $42, three with controller and PWM 1 to 3 cable costs $135. Without a display, Lian Li charges $27 for the fan with receiver and just under $90 for the three-pack.
Resellers already offer Strimer wireless cables. The 24 pin CPU cable costs just under 60 euros, with an L controller it costs around 70 euros. Depending on the version, GPU cables cost between 50 and 60 euros; the 8 pin CPU cable is not listed yet. The prices of pure cables therefore remain constant compared to Strimer Plus.
