ViewSonic is launching a new monitor for gamers. The XG275D-4K boasts a native resolution of 3840 x 2160 pixels at 160 Hz. Thanks to the Dual Mode feature, the monitor can be switched to Full HD at 320 Hz at the push of a button. The price is around $500.
The number of dual-mode monitors continues to grow. Gamers can choose between a high pixel density, meaning 163 PPI on the 27-inch XG275D-4K for particularly sharp images, or a possible refresh rate of 320 Hz with a reduced resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels, meaning just under 82 PPI. There’s also a mode for “competitive gaming” that shrinks the screen to a 24.5-inch diagonal. The 27″ monitor is compatible with AMD FreeSync Premium and Nvidia G-Sync. The IPS panel is expected to achieve a response time (GTG) of 1 ms and an MPRT of 0.5 ms. Brightness and contrast are not available here, with 300 cd/m² and 1000:1 on the typical IPS Black level with double the contrast.
The ViewSonic XG275D-4K has a labeled stand that allows a height adjustment of 13 cm. In addition, the display can be swiveled vertically and horizontally and adjusted in line with the trend.
A DisplayPort 1.4 and two HDMI 2.1 ports are installed as video inputs. The USB-C connection can also transmit image signals via DP-ALT mode and supports a maximum power supply of 65 watts. In addition to the integrated speakers with a nominal output of 2 watts, there is a headphone jack.
Price and availability
Initially, the US market launch is taking place at an “expected road price” of $499.99. It is not yet known when and at what price the monitor will be available in this country.
The Asus ROG Strix XG27UCG offers very similar equipment at a price of around €440.
