Until now, there was only one Mini-ITX motherboard equipped with the X870 chipset, now a second has been added: the Gigabyte X870I Aorus Pro Ice. In the silver and white version there are many VRM phases, a heat pipe cooler and support for installing the graphics card and WLAN antenna.
The second ITX board with X870 chipset
If you want to use a compact motherboard from the Mini-ITX class and don’t want to miss out on the “new” X870 chipset, the only option until now was the expensive Asus ROG Strix.

Now here is the first ITX motherboard from Gigabyte with this chipset. The X870I Aorus Pro Ice stands out from the otherwise mostly black circuit boards with its silver and white design. With a price of around 340 euros, it is significantly cheaper.

The motherboard has an 8+2+1 VRM design (VCore, SOC, MISC) equipped with a heat pipe cooler and, according to the manufacturer, supports DDR5 up to 8,800 MT/s when overclocked in its two RAM sockets. There is room under a cooler for an M.2 SSD that can run PCIe 5.0 x4. Another M.2 slot is on the back. The single PCIe slot works with PCIe 5.0 x16 and is reinforced for heavy-duty graphics cards. Thanks to “EZ-Latch Plus”, the graphics card unlocks with the press of a button. Two SATA drives and three fans can be connected.
WLAN antenna via plug instead of screwed
The “WiFi EZ-Plug” is a special feature on the I/O panel, which replaces the usual antenna screw sockets. Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 5.4 and 2.5 GB Ethernet are supported. USB4 with 40 Gbps and DisplayPort is available once. There are also two USB 3.2 Gen 2 (10 Gbps), USB 3.2 Gen 1 (5 Gbps) and USB 2.0. A front USB-C port operating at up to 10 Gbps can be connected via a header.

Like the networking solutions, the audio chip also comes from Realtek and is called ALC4080. The BIOS ROM module has a capacity of 256 Mbits.
Of course, the Gigabyte
The market launch has not yet taken place, but the white ITX motherboard is already available at various European retailers and in the United States, where it costs around $300 (before tax). It was recently listed on Mindfactory for 340 euros, but the offer has since been removed.
