Xiaomi 15 and 15 Pro: Smartphones with Snapdragon 8 Elite and 50 MP Leica camera 76 comments

In addition to the Xiaomi Pad 7 and Pad 7 Pro with the Xiaomi 15 and Xiaomi 15 Pro, Xiaomi also presented the new smartphones with Snapdragon 8 Elite. The Xiaomi 15 is expected to arrive in Germany in early 2025, but this is once again uncertain for the Pro model.
Snapdragon 8 Elite for both
The Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite (Benchmarks) with an Oryon 2 processor offers significant improvements in performance and power efficiency and forms the basis of the two new flagship smartphones. The Xiaomi 15 and Xiaomi 15 Pro also have many similarities in terms of technology, but also differences in details.
Helle OLED displays
The most striking difference is the screen size and therefore the resolution. The Xiaomi 15 uses a 6.35-inch OLED display with a resolution of 2670 × 1200 pixels, while the Xiaomi 15 Pro’s OLED display measures 6.73 inches and offers a resolution of 3200 × 1440 pixels. Both use an LTPO panel with a variable refresh rate between 1 and 120 Hz. With a high maximum brightness of up to 3,200 cd/m², the two smartphones do not differ from each other in this regard.
Compared to its predecessor, the AMOLED screen would be 24% more economical. It is protected by Xiaomi Dragon Crystal Glass 2.0, which is said to improve drop resistance by up to 30%. There is an ultrasonic fingerprint sensor under the screen on the Xiaomi 15 and Xiaomi 15 Pro

Same connectivity and fast charging
Both smartphones are available with 12 or 16 GB of LPDDR5X RAM and up to 1 TB of UFS 4.0 flash storage. They also both offer 5G, NFC, Bluetooth 5.4, Wi-Fi 7, GPS, and USB-C. Although there are differences in battery capacity with 5,400 mAh for the Xiaomi 15 and 6,100 mAh for the Xiaomi 15 Pro, both smartphones can be charged at up to 90 watts via USB-C and up to 50 watts wireless.

The stereo speakers offer Dolby Atmos and the smartphones are Hi-Res Audio and Hi-Res Audio Wireless certified.
Three 50-megapixel cameras
Xiaomi 15 and 15 Pro use a Leica-branded triple camera, consisting of a 50 MP main sensor, a 50 MP ultra-wide-angle lens and a 50 MP periscope telephoto lens. The wide-angle and telephoto sensors are equipped with optical image stabilization. However, the sensors differ in detail.

Both record video with HDR and Dolby Vision. On the front, the Xiaomi 15 and 15 Pro offer a 32 MP front camera with an OmniVision OV32B40 sensor.

Availability and price
The Xiaomi 15 Pro is available in China in Spruce Green, Rock Gray and White as well as Bright Silver Edition. The Xiaomi 15 is available in Lilac Purple, Light Grass Green, Black and White. Sales begin for both on October 31, 2024. Prices vary depending on the memory version.
