Xiaomi tablets have now established themselves as very well-equipped and inexpensive tablets; with the Xiaomi Pad 7 and Xiaomi Pad 7 Pro this will not change, as the launch in China shows.

As usual, the Pad 7 series also includes two models, the standard model Xiaomi Pad 7 and the more powerful Xiaomi Pad 7 Pro, although the Pro version has not been officially launched in Germany recently. It is not yet possible to say whether this will also be the case with the new model; an announcement for Germany is still pending.

High resolution display

Both models feature an 11.2-inch LCD display with a high resolution of 3200 × 2136 pixels and a pixel density of 345 ppi. Xiaomi has not changed anything about the panel technology and has notably decided not to use an panel. Both tablets therefore have a 3:2 format screen. The refresh rate is again 144 Hz. The maximum screen brightness is 800 cd/m², which is a good value, but does not belong to the absolute top group – the LCD screen of the Huawei MatePad 12 X (test), for example, reaches almost 1,000 cd/m². Like Huawei, Xiaomi also offers a matte display that minimizes glare with a nano-textured coating that is claimed to reduce glare by 99% and glare by 65%. However, this type of screen is only available as an option and is not standard.

Processor and operating system

The Xiaomi Pad 7 is powered by a Snapdragon 7+ Gen 3. The Xiaomi Pad 7 Pro, on the other hand, uses the more powerful Snapdragon 8s Gen 3, so it’s the better choice, especially as a gaming tablet. two models use the HyperCore software feature developed by Xiaomi for HyperOS 2, which is said to increase performance by up to 13% and multitasking efficiency by 69%. For both tablets, Xiaomi uses the new HyperOS 2 as an operating system, based on and above all intended to offer improved multitasking. Features also include a cross-platform clipboard that synchronizes content and aims to facilitate interaction with Xiaomi .

Housing and dimensions

Both tablets use an aluminum unibody chassis that is just 6.18mm thick. The dimensions of both models are identical at 251.22 × 173.42 × 6.18 mm. This also applies to the weight, which is 500 grams for the Xiaomi Pad 7 and Xiaomi Pad 7 Pro. The power button on the side houses a fingerprint scanner. A keyboard with touchpad is available as an accessory.

Camera and audio

When it comes to cameras, there are also clear differences between the models. The Xiaomi Pad 7 uses an 8 MP front camera and a 13 MP main camera, while the Xiaomi Pad 7 Pro uses a 32 MP front camera and a 50 MP main camera. Xiaomi also offers AI functions to post-process and enhance images.

For audio playback, both models come with four speakers that support four-channel surround sound.

Battery and charging options

The Xiaomi Pad 7 series has an 8,850mAh battery in both tablets, but there are differences in terms of charging. In the Xiaomi Pad 7 it can be charged at up to 45 watts, while in the Xiaomi Pad 7 Pro the fast charging feature allows up to 67 watts.

Prices and variants

The Xiaomi Pad 7 and Xiaomi Pad 7 Pro are available in three colors (Sky Blue, Cyan Green and Black) in China. They can now be purchased through the official Xiaomi website in China. A launch on the global market is not yet known.
