Thermaltake The Tower 250: The octagonal ITX tower-shaped case can lie 5 comments

Thermaltake’s smallest octagonal tower case, already presented at Computex, uses the ITX format. With an optional stand it can be laid on its side. Like the other “The Tower” models, the Tower 250 rotates the motherboard 90 degrees and places it facing the front: the manufacturer creates a real showcase.
However, the addition “ITX” should not make us forget that the Tower 250 is a large case with a volume of a good 43 liters. The shape of the tower with an octagonal base surface is therefore considered lavish, which creates space for the presentation of components and large hardware components. The model looks more like a classic case with an optional stand, which costs between 20 and 40 euros for other cases in the series, which not only sets down the case but also tilts it by 45 degrees.
Space for large equipment
The space provides room for CPU coolers and graphics cards of virtually unlimited size. However, due to their form factor, suspended GPUs cannot occupy more than three slots in width. This is not necessarily a problem even with high-end GPUs: even the upcoming RTX 5090 from Nvidia with an increased TDP to 600 watts is equipped with a 2-slot cooler in the Founders Edition – and is therefore more narrower than the 3-slot model of the RTX 4090 with a TDP of 450 watts.

Hard drives are hidden behind the motherboard. There is a stand that holds two 2.5-inch or one 3.5-inch data storage devices. Only the power supply is located in the lower compartment of the tower. A 3.9″ screen with a resolution of 128 × 400 pixels can also be used on the front, which displays image files, diagnostic data, time or weather. The screen must be purchased separately in the form of the “LCD panel kit” and currently costs around 100 euros.
Cooling all around
For cooling, the Tower 250 has two unlit CT120 fans with a PWM connection (2000 rpm) in the lid. Additional fans can be retrofitted to the sides, rear and panel inside. A 360mm radiator can also be inserted on the right side.
The Tower 250 can now be purchased in stores for around 145 euros in black, white, light blue and green. The model has been available in ATX form factor since last year’s Gamescom as The Tower 600 at a similar price.
